I came to Seattle from California, and the difference in attitude toward earthquakes amazes me. I feel like Washingtonians just use the power of collective denial to stop them from happening. Something's gotta be stopping earthquakes/Rainier exploding, right?

As a resident of the Seattle area of Washington State being a geology major in college was a little bit of a horror show. Between the potential for volcanoes, gigantic earthquakes and biblical waves it challenges logic to choose to choose to live here yet I can't imagine living anywhere else.
