The problem I've found with devices like these is that the pre-amps are absolute garbage. Noisy and hissy in the all the wrong ways, and simply not enough power. Worse off, most mics we use in film for vocals—although sensitive—still require a solid 40+ dB of amplification off the mic in order to get anything usable.
