Well, I don’t agree that it’s a lost cause. If I did, I would think that Hillary’s campaign was a lost cause, and I am by no means ready to concede that.

Sure, having Sanders voters actually switch over to Republican membership would be worse than just losing them to disaffected non-voter status, but Hillary still can’t afford to lose them, not when they are largely taken from…

No candidate is better off without any vote.

Declaring that voters who abandon the Democrats out of dislike Hillary are privileged or foolish or white or otherwise the wrong kind of people is not an effective way of preventing voters from abandoning the Democrats.

If you are a committed Democrat (or, yes, any rational person who is naturally terrified of what a Trump presidency would mean), then that argument absolutely holds true.
