Would that be the Mike Barr and Alan Davis stories from Detective? Those two Joker-Catwoman issues have two of my favorite covers ever. Also that entire run is possibly my favorite Batman run ever as well. I bought the Davis Batman hardcover a few years ago, even though I own almost all of the contents already.

That bummed me out too. I have the Joker one also and I think both came out around the time of the 1989 Batman movie. Batmania was INSANE back then!

Think I have it in the Greatest Batman Stories too, the original one with the Walt Simonson cover.

I do hear that Robinson's recent Airboy and Scarlet Witch are pretty good though.

I second that motion.

Dude, I almost commented about that one too. Thank you for doing it because I loved that story as a kid. I think it was in an issue of Brave and the Bold but I'm really not sure.

Byrne also drew himself into Sensational She-Hulk, right? He inserted his editor into the story plenty of times, Renee Witterstaetter.

Not true! I found a couple of issues in a long box recently. Damn they were gorgeous covers. Do you know who did covers for that series? I think these were early issues, they almost seemed painted IIRC. Anyway, I clearly didn't stick with it, but I do remember liking those individual issues as a kid.

Yup that soundtrack was in heavy rotation for me back then. That Lips song is great, plus: PJ HARVEY!

HERA GIVE ME STRENGTH!
HOLA!

BY CROM!

Absolutely. I got that book as well in that same order. It's fantastic!

There was also that time Jim Starlin parodied Marvel editorial in the pages of his run on Warlock, with very obvious stand-ins for Stan Lee, John Romita, Len Wein, and Roy Thomas. IIRC only Thomas was painted in a flattering light. It's a real hoot of a story, think it's from Strange Tales #181. I suppose it isn't

I would have included one more: Bob Haney and Jim Aparo appearing in The Brave and the Bold #124

Instocktrades has a heavily discounted hardcover Deluxe Edition, or at least they did when Cooke passed away. That's where I ordered it from, think it was around $25. I'd read it when it came out but never owned it. So glad I do now.

I would suggest some Darwyn Cooke, with his magnum opus The New Frontier.

Hey, Comics Week! I do fear that I may not have the time or the stamina to keep up with the landslide of comments that will take place this week, though.

That's pretty much how my wife feels. I loved the books so I'm on board at least for a little while longer (even though I'm disappointed so far), but she's constantly saying "WTF is going on in this show?"

I wanted to love this show so much, having loved the comic, but so far (I'm 4 episodes in), I'm pretty disappointed. I tend to agree with you - it seems like this is "Preacher" in name only so far. Maybe things will change, but so far Tulip is like a different character altogether and even Jesse seems like someone

Didn't PG also get grumpy from drinking soda during that series? Or something similarly stupid?
