They'd done a good job rounding out Stannis as a character and showing his genuine affection for his daughter, making his final decision all the more horrific.

I don't know what the overall narrative arc the show-runners have in mind is. What i do know is that I am tired of the lazy use of sexual violence on GoT. It's not even outrage, just a kind of resigned disappointment.

Cameron felt like a real person, rather than a fantasy character like Ferris. I think they are both heroes in their own way. The change he makes and who he is as a person are Cameron's heroic traits. The fantasy ideals Ferris represents (free will/agency/lust for life) make him heroic.

Yes, Election is a good movie too.

See, what I think people sometimes miss about Ferris Bueller is that the movie never intended him to be a real person. He exists as a kind of teenage wish fulfillment. He's the ultimate FU to dreary, disinterested teachers who sleepwalk through their jobs and make High School feel like purgatory for kids with

I did enjoy the Gary Busey episode, but the show was otherwise without merit. Sounds like it is the same case with the film. Any Gary?

True, but the scene is also more ambiguous. On the one hand, yes, the Sparrows are fucked-up because they think they have the absolute truth and can therefore use that to justify any action, however horrific. It's dangerous for any religion (or cough, cough, ideology) to encourage this blinkered way of thinking. In

I totally bought Spader and Gyllenhaal as a couple. And please don't take Secretary away from us.

Initial thoughts on Mad Men (spoilers):

"The Dwarf stays until we find a cock merchant" is a gift of a line. Also, nearly all Olenna Tyrell says is fantastically entertaining. Love Rigg.

It looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Okay so a few things:

This is fucking hilarious.

"A shadowy flight into the world of a man… who does not exist"

Yeah i think he was just surprised that anyone (not just Peggy) would think they could produce a creative work of lasting value and significance in advertising. Hence Don's incredulous 'In advertising?' response.

I loved it. Started watching while knowing nothing about those involved. It has great visuals and the way the show flows from start to finish - top stuff. it has a clear tone and it knows what it wants to be. It's also quite humorous in places. Recommended.

Its a weird one but for me I need to revisit Mirrors Edge. I get frustrated with the poorly implemented combat and the story bores me but the feeling of graceful forward motion and (when it works) the gameplay flow state keep drawing me back.

Well as long as you haven't emotionally invested in the characters or the story and you didn't take the games writers at their word when they said your actions would have significant consequences, then you shouldn't be too disappointed.

Thanks for the recommendation. I lost hours watching these, but my feeling of moral superiority has been significantly boosted. Also -
they were funny.

*Shrugs* I wasn't having a go or anything. It just seemed like an odd view to me. Having read the book/watched the 1970's BBC TV series beforehand I knew the plot pretty well, so I'm always curious how intelligible it is for newcomers. Perhaps another AV citizen can help?
