I definitely wanted to check it out because I love Edgar Ramírez, but I stayed away once I saw the lukewarm reviews. Glad to hear it's not a disaster, maybe I'll check it out eventually.

If you look at a list of former nominees, it was quite prevalent for these foreign movies to have huge chunks of dialogue in English. I think they changed the rules in the past decade or so, so they you can't do that anymore. So yeah, Canada usually sends Quebecois stuff for consideration.

Dang, yeah. When I found out that there were going to be multiple Asian characters I was so excited; I thought of how Orange Is The New Black has a white lead but lots of complicated, interesting black and Latina women around her, and got all hopeful that this would also be the case on this show. Sigh.
