You've hit the nail on the head, Shadow. I have no idea why Americans joke it's "OOT." But it is most definitely "OAT," as in BOAT.

Hell, I'm surprised the original film wasn't made in my home province of Saskatchewan, back in the early 90s! They would have saved a fortune on tax breaks and the then high U.S. dollar value to Canadian, PLUS the wintery landscape would have looked exactly the same, and some of the townsfolk just as nutty-sounding.

I'm guardedly interested in this.

There is one word that, for me, pretty much sums up the quality and depth of The Newsroom [well; at least the first season. I have to be fair and disclose I've only seen two eps of the second season]:

God; Studio 60 was so, so fucking terrible. And I forced myself to watch all but two episodes of it, too.

"The Social Network: His movie scripts are usually good, it's when he has total final say that his work goes awry"

FULLY AGREE!

YES.

I have one word for you:

"You have to wonder what office dress code policies were at the time.
Bonnie’s dress, as well as Megan’s last week, were similarly short.
Trends! [SS]"

This will most likely mean Canadian prices will go up 3-4 dollars a month. ("TAX ME; I'M CANADIAN!") ;)

LOL: yeah, I was perhaps not necessarily being fair to hippies. I just made a blanket assumption there.

ZING!

"His daughter's condescending attitude rubbed me the wrong way"

No no; you yourself have a point Schizlor. Was just a mite bit melodramatic last night when I wrote that! ;) T2 was indeed pretty good for the times.

Are you guys sure season 2 did not have a cold open? Though I honestly can't remember what it "was" (lol: and that may well be because there actually WASN'T one), I was fairly sure that every season has had one.

Just imagine if HBO never passed on Mad Men!

Up until Game of Thrones, I've unequivocally loathed CGI in pretty much all media. One way or another, CGI almost always looked terrible in anything and everything before this show.

I've never really been a big fan of the Daenerys portion of the show. Up until now, it's been tepid, really. But I sense better things with it soon.

ZING!
