Pfffffft, Basil II> all that Empress Zoe shit. While there were a lot of court intrigues, not much else was goin on. A series about Nicephorus Phocas, John Tzimkies, and Basil II would be amazing though.

6 foot 20 fucking killing for fun
I'll go into people's houses at night and wreck up the place!
HOT CRACKERS!
Got to say, I love old films, but I always have a hard time with silents. Excepting a few (Faust, Chaplins) I usually get distracted or bored much quicker than a talkie from the 30s.
Liked for Faust, cause its probably the best silent I've ever seen. Perfect combination of acting, style, and direction. The only real failure in the movie is arguably the extended comic interlude with Meph and the woman. Other than that, entrancing like no other silent I've seen.
Spain-Brazil tonight as well!
"The illiterate, tax cheating, wife swapping, pot smoking spendocrat Diamond Joe Quimby"
Nose cutting too!
Oh, the blindings! When Basil II put out the eyes of near 20,000 Bulgars, leaving only 1 eye to 1 man out of 100, so he could lead the blinded troops to the Bulgar Tsar, Tsar Samuel died of sadness on the spot!
By doesn't get as many, you mean doesn't get any whatsoever, correct?
So, great cast with a little bit of M on the side? If the director makes sure to Noir it up, this could very well be my favorite movie of 2014 (2015?)
Probably gonna pick up Marketa during the sale as well. That, Shoah, Verdoux are the big 3 I'm going to try and get.
You raise an excellent point, it's like looking forward to Salo. I look forward to being horrifically depressed at the horror. Oh, the horror.
2-3 weeks is the usual length. The place I check for Blu deals has Devil's Backbone listed as coming out during the sale
I immediately started looking to see if this one had been posted as well
Looking forward to Shoah but wait until early July for it. B&N's annual Criterion Sale starts July 9th. Shoah's a big set and I'd prefer half off.
What about Rheinlanders?
I can imagine the conversations at HBO now…
It's true. Anytime I'm in one of those shitty gift shops, I ALWAYS look for Bort license plates.
