The wolf was Nymeria. "It's not you" is a direct reference to Arya saying "That's not me" to her father in Season 1 after he told her that she would grow up to be a fancy princess. Arya realizes that Nymeria has a life of her own and doesn't want to be someone's pet.

I think the implicit issue with a "What if the South had won" premise is that the future it imagines will be obviously horrific, but it might come off in a "See, we don't have it so bad! We should be grateful!" kind of way. Like when anti-feminists point to violations of women's rights in the Middle East as proof that

re:Arya,Bran,etc
I've pretty much concluded that this show has no internal logic. Subplots are forgotten or resurrected whenever convenient. Magic has rules until it doesn't. It's all a bit frustrating so I've just taken to watching for the gorgeous set dressing and fan service.

nah, no excuse for this hacky, sentimental slop to be nominated for best comedy for like the thirtieth year in a row when there's so much funny tv out there. an emmy nom can be life or death for smaller shows

The year is 2344. Modern Family has been on the air for millennia. People cannot remember a time when there was no Modern Family. The Emmys are renamed The Sofia Vergara Extravaganza. Spotlight on an empty stage. The Award for Best Everything goes to… Ty Burrell. He is long dead.

the only thing worse than people who love harry potter a little too much is people who hate harry potter a little too much

Jared and Richard's fight was the most heartbreaking TV breakup in recent memory. I'll riot if the series doesn't end with them getting married as some sort of hackneyed way to save the company (yet again). I'll also riot if Dinesh and Gilfoyle don't hate fuck at some point.
It's also possible I'm reading way too much

Miller seems like one of those comedians I can enjoy from a distance, but if I met him at a party I'd hate him, yknow?

Ugh, the music is so obnoxious. I just have this vision of a dude with a goatee picking out the end credits songs and winking cheesily as he does it. "Get it?? It's edgy because they're pop songs and it's a sad show!!"

One thing I love in particular about this series is its re-contextualization of the word "refugee." With all the disgusting language in the US around refugees and illegal immigrants (literally deemed "aliens" by our government) this seems incredibly important to me. The reality of refugees' daily lives seems so far

i'll just leave this tweet by julio torres here:

I was so ready to hate Chris Pine but then I… didn't? Solid episode.

She's the most dangerous person on the show tbh

Wait, in locking the door to the bunker, didn't Clarke and Jaha also condemn Octavia and Kane to horrific deaths? I can believe them being heartless and callous to the grounders, but to Octavia and Kane, who are so close to both Clarke and Jaha? Damn.

in the book, all methods of artificial insemination are forbidden

Yes, also: Sarah was extremely jealous and hated Hagar for being fertile, even though Hagar was a slave and had no agency in the situation. This show is quite explicit in its biblical references.

I found myself literally having to pause and take deep breaths while watching this show. No piece of fiction has struck me as so deeply unsettling and prescient in my lifetime as a woman. Fuck.

I agree that Lena's writing relies a lot on the audience reading in between the lines. She never spells anything out and sometimes that is genuinely confusing (like with her and Adam's breakup, which I literally didn't understand till I read the review). But I think when her approach works, it really fucking works.

Yeah they've been using that promo picture and it's baffling since it's not even in the final ep

hoooly shit, that's dark, even for HBO.
