congrats on the you-know-what

Those of you who are special enough to be friends with me on Facebook (just kidding, I love you all and all of you should add me) know this, but the quizbowl club I was part of until I graduated last year won the national championship for the first time ever over the weekend. This isn't the most exciting thing that's

Justified had the best pilot I've seen in my life.

has never been real, is still not real

I'm in Las Vegas for a conference (I hate this place, it's the worst place in the world, I resent being here), and one of my best friends who is also here is a North Carolina graduate. I told him that he should have skipped out on the conference and schlepped out to Phoenix for the game, but no, he's focused on his

Yesterday I talked to FedEx about job openings both in Memphis and in Harrison, Arkansas, a town so obscure even I didn't know where it was. Now I really wonder how many potential employees FedEx Freight misses out on because they read the Wikipedia page for Harrison, Arkansas.

I don't like having to think about the Oilers.

I'm sure that's true, but among the sample I polled of two straight women who had participated in threesomes, both said that they were not only uninterested in a situation with two men but that they would be actively less interested in a man who was open to involving another man. This was surprising to me.

Ha, I was talking to Dave about male-male-female threesomes the other day; based on my anecdotal experience (i.e. talking to people who have participated in threesomes), it seems like nobody is actually into that. I'd guess that the vast majority of threesomes either involve one man and two women or three men.

yes

I spent my weekend at school doing work, but very late one night as I was being dropped off, the Georgia State radio station was playing in the car I was in and I heard a really excellent instrumental track by someone I hadn't heard of. Blue Sky Black Death, I think it was? Anyway it was good and that was my weekend.

I suppose it makes sense that you'd be the person here who would talk about reading Kapuściński. I've only read Another Day of Life out of his oeuvre, because his work is remarkably hard to find on Library Genesis and because the absurd "university" at which I'm enrolled doesn't actually have a library, but he writes

Higher pace is huge; they used to play so fast.

Why not during class? It would be even more efficient.

I don't watch a lot of movies and my memory is poor, so here's the top-rated movie I have on Letterboxd for as far back as I have multiple movies rated in each year on Letterboxd.

I for one knew.

I feel like one of the best things I ever did for any of my friends in college was convincing a bunch of them to watch Picnic at Hanging Rock with me. I need to watch that again.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The best thing that happened to me was one evening when I was walking between home and school and a car pulled up at a red light beside me while blasting "Roses" by Outkast. I felt like that was exactly what I thought living in Atlanta would be like, and so it pleased me to no end.
