But, being a UFO it also didn't consciously do anything to interfere or justify it's presence… I don't know what to make of that. What is the UFO doing? Now that it seems its really a flying saucer? Is it representative of God… always watching but not active in picking sides… People respond and outcomes follow… I

Do you think that the narration added and the detailed UFO appearing in the same episode has to do with your first sentence? Because I agree the "detail" and removal of ambiguity was the problem I had as well. Not a huge problem… but I think there may be something to the fact that we get a clear UFO while we have

Fair enough… but why erryobody else gots to be Dumm fo? I can't wait to see how it all ends.

You make a good point… The fairer criticism would be the introduction of the narrator to explain away the "unbelievable" as that seems to have been reserved for this episode. The device that is questionable would be the narration as opposed to the UFO… If I'm being honest it was also less necessary in the context as

He could be in danger and get out of it many ways… Hank (or any other character on purpose or by accident (stray) could have saved him, it could have gone down like the butcher shop scene… the UFO was intentional because UFOs and the hysteria surrounding them in the 70s is part of a theme to the story that we are

"You know what stinks? Your attitude" Best comment ever!

strongly disagree… but hey… some people go against the grain, just to go against the grain… But I wouldn't accuse you of that… I don't know you.

    Floydd? I hope so… but I doubt

The scene could have happened without the UFO… but that wouldn't have been in line with the theme… which I get you don't like… but it's been consistent and until we see aliens.. I think it works for the time and place the story is set… I was more curious how the hell Bear was still standing…

initially my thought was It's too detailed. Lights in the sky… "possible space craft" UFO… all are quite understandable, but this removed any mystery… it was a flying saucer for certain. Still… I can live with the revelation that there is indeed something out there beyond explanation in the Fargo universe… which all

I think Distraction is the right word… I don't think there is any intention… it's coincidence and it serves to distract the characters at crucial times.

But the sudden bolt of lightening wasn't a pop culture thing in the era of the show… UFOs were… I was just pointing out that "aliens" didn't interfere or actively do anything… I think (at least thus far) it's important to note there have been NO aliens on Fargo… Just UFOs. The point some seem to be missing is that

" His desire to kill of the Gerhardts doesn't make sense" - Well, he;'s a soldier and it's his mission… granted it loses impact when he offs his whole team, but then Peggy did stab him and he's got nothing but free time now.

I think he He shot cops too. Friend and Foe alike.

I think the debate was about "interference" as much as appearance. They (aliens/the UFO) didn't do anything. And yet they changed everything… that's the point of it IMO.

There's been a lot made of the politics of the time… it's poetic that with all the tragedy on the ground and all the bread and circuses people keep getting caught looking to the heavens in extremely tense situations. Rye had just murdered 3 people and the Lights weren't doing him anything… but he was awe struck by am

Good point regarding the narration… It also ads to the "cowboy" element of the Hank Character… he was the hero (voice of reason) here… though not successful he survived… I hope.

    As always Lots to chew…
    1. BETSY, NO!!!!!!!!!! Please let her be ok.
    2. The theme of impotence was rampant here as the cancer that is gang violence tightened it's hold on the situation, Lou was helpess… this mirrored his situation with Betsy. He has good intentions, a strong will, and a willingness to do whatever it

I was thinking the same thing… But I'm pretty sure that the whole UFO thing is nothing more than a distraction device… Perhaps a comment on the UFO hysteria which also was a distraction through the time but ultimately seems to have come and gone without the luxury of any answers or closure… people generally just moved

I see where you're going… but the Abe Simpson about face was a cut above…
