To be fair(ish), they weren't just recording the phone call. They were recording a lot of the behind the scenes of making TLOP, so the cameras of course caught the conversation.

Yep. I think the break when we got Reagan was a breath of fresh air for many viewers (based on my opinions) so ditching Reagan to bring back Jess has shown the stark contrast between the two.
