Second one had half the box office of the first one - the usual comedy sequel box office slump there. Though Gordon didn't direct the sequel.

Seth Gordon really should have stuck to making documentaries.
Do Make Say Think's first album in over seven years is out today as well. Great to have them back.
I presume poor Paul Dano's character will wind up getting beaten up or something at some point
Domhnall Gleeson's brother Brian is also in it. They should have got Brendan as well for a Gleeson full house!
Seth MacFarlane? No way…wait, Adrianne Palicki and Halston Sage are in it?
It's Fassbenders's Double Impact!
'From a British perspective, class is considerably more important than
race in our society - I'd be surprised if his Jewishness is relevant at
all.'
Of course it can (and I have no doubt this film is offensive garbage), but I'm always wary of this idea that 'people outside big cities have good reason to dislike liberal comedians, celebrities etc'. It sails close to the idiotic idea that liberals are to blame for stuff like Trump and it reminds me of that 'Just say…
People being really anti-Semitic?
In the same way that any Robin Hood-related adaptation is doomed because I just wind up thinking 'this is nowhere near as good as Maid Marian and Her Merry Men', any King Arthur-related adaptation is doomed because I just wind up thinking 'this is nowhere near as good as Monty Python and the Holy Grail'.
*of any movie
I would have said that a few years ago, but he's dialled back the bad guy roles of late seemingly. Maybe they've found someone else now.
I'm beginning to think that Hollywood studios have Elizabeth Debicki on speed dial whenever they need a female villain.
It's like the first one, only not as good (I'd say a B-). There are some very funny moments though, two lines in particular had me in stitches. And nice to see beefed up roles for Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan this time.
Tiny Mix Tapes is always obnoxious
I don't think it did, as Me and Earl demonstrated the previous year, there can be a big disconnect between Sundance raves and critic reviews when the film gets its cinema release, and critics are usually good at putting outside controversies to one side when assessing a film, whatever their personal feelings may be…
The reviews were still significantly cooler when it went on wide release though compared to the raves at Sundance, and I don't think that was down to the controversy. But yeah, other factors did come into play.
'Films that flourished at Sundance, only to die a painful death outside of it'
Really? I think Vaughn and Goldman are pretty good at taking out all the unpleasant stuff from Mark Millar's comics. Kick Ass and Kingsman are both miles better than the source material.
