The Shipping News must have been bad, even The Cider House Rules and Chocolat got tons of Oscar nominations, awards buzz for The Shipping News died the moment the film press saw it.

Getting a Best Picture nod ahead of Being John Malkovich =(
I like this definition of 'shitflake' to describe those who use 'snowflake' as an insult
I have heard that My Life as a Dog is good, though of course that's before he upped sticks to Hollywood. It was certainly a steep drop after What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Seems perfectly in keeping with the 'blah' that is Lasse Hallstrom's Hollywood career.
Don't forget Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner
Yeah, he seems pretty awful. I really liked Manchester by the Sea though, ah well #partoftheproblem
I said it a few years ago and I'll say it again. Meryl Streep could play the box in a Metal Gear Solid adaptation and still get an Oscar nomination. Make it happen Hollywood!
I think Happy Texas was the first one I remember.
Pretty sure Sean Penn made zero difference to going to war in Iraq

The burning question is which film will get raves at Sundance and then be despised/ignored (or both) by the end of the year. Who will follow in the illustrious footsteps of the likes of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and The Birth of a Nation?
Predictions: Packers, Steelers
Hoping for: Packers, meteorite to hit Gillette Stadium
Sad news :(
He's dating Alicia Vikander so I imagine that's a pretty big consolation.
Fassbender is very good in Frank when playing against type.
In other news Kumail Nanjiani subjected himself to Schneider's Netflix show
Whatever one thinks of La La Land, it's box office is already pretty astonishing for an original, live-action film that isn't American Sniper, and there's plenty more to come. I went to a 12pm showing this weekend in London and came out of the cinema to see almost every remaining showing that day was already sold out.
Pretty good, though let's not pretend that anyone was 'duped' into voting for Trump. His shithead voters knew exactly what they were voting for.
The annoying thing about losing to the Packers is I can't even find anything to hate about Aaron Rodgers. Aside from him dating Olivia Munn anyway.
