Yep, called it ages ago. Mother has died in the future, and Robin and Ted will end up together.

Wow, season 9 is really, genuinely both sweet and funny. It's great that the writers have returned to form before this show bows out.

I went from on the verge of tears over the beautiful moment to literally doing a spit-take and guffawing loudly over Floating Robin. Boy, they really f'd that up.

Oh thank god I'm not the only one who wondered if an airplane would take her out.

Godammit, I hate when sitcoms make me cry.

I know him for the English dub of an anime he was in over a decade ago.

I snickered at how bad it looked. It did ruin the moment a little.

I've never been able to accept them as a couple. I adore Smulders and NPH and they're great as a comic duo of 'bros' but they have no romantic chemistry whatsoever.

Yeah, this is why it seems weird to me that 'I can't have kids' keeps trumping 'I don't want kids'. Unless it's an in depth conversation it's actually kinda stupid just to say 'I can't have kids' because a lot of people will then assume 'oh but you can adopt, right?'

I've been waiting for them to explain 'sonovabeech' since the first time it was uttered. It feels like a joke without a punchline…

My thoughts:

We don't know they're not going to end up together. All we know is that Ted had a relationship with a woman that lasted long enough to give him 2 kids.

I don't understand why so many people don't understand/get angry about this. It's like watching Friends and getting upset about the Ross/Rachel storyline. They are NEVER going to drop it because from the very first episode, Robin and Ted have been the Designated Couple.

I honestly believe that Robin has wanted Ted all along, but she's not as in touch her her feelings as he is. There's also the problem (which hasn't gone away) that despite how they are perfect for each other and make each other happy - he wants kids, and she doesn't. That's a big problem, and I think Robin knows that

Oh, hi! Thanks for your reply (and for not spoiling for the end) - I wasn't expecting any, as I'm aware that I'm absurdly late to the party and that this comments section died a few years back.

Yep. And I'm so excited because now I can continue to predict that he and Robin will end up together!

That was one of the best half hours of HIMYM ever. The last musical scene was delightful. Nice to know this show can still bring it when it wants to.

For me this really underpinned one of the reasons why Barney and Robin don't work as a couple. For all her outer bravado Robin is actually quite fragile when it comes to giving her heart away - it doesn't come easily to her because she's got serious issues due to her dad (and probably compounded when Don left her).

How on earth did Segel keep a straight face for that's Skittles scene? This is the episode that made me laugh the hardest in a very long time. However:
-It's ok if I continually lie to you and our entire relationship is built in deception as long as I love you deep down? Yeah…that's an unhealthy, skeevy message and I'm

Cruel irony: Josh Radnor has been knocking it out of the ballpark these last couple seasons - he's not just got better comic timing and delivery; he's an all around better actor.
