Australia?

As the one fan of The Cat's Meow I did.

Don't worry about it. Upstream color is an entirely different sort of film, but still a great one. If you've got emotions you'll ride the wave just fine.

I don't see any difference in maturity level at all. Different style of filmmaking and genres sure, but if you try to argue that Monkey Business is more mature than Skyfall I don't think you can get helped.

Martin Ritt deserves way more credit then he gets nowadays. Nobody has ever managed to tackle serious subjects without making it seem like a lecture as well as him.

I like The Rock, but Pain and Gain has easily taken the title of best Bay film from it. It's a genuinely intelligent look and criticism of American conservatism from a conservative view which is fascinating in a way you don't often see at the movies anymore (really not since the '80s).

That seems to be increasingly true regardless of quality though since the end of the studio system with independent producers from all across the globe financing a large variety of projects. It's less the studio now then the actual producer.

I like it,but I blame John Milius' insanity for that more than anything else.

And when is stuff like Near Dark crap?

For you. Maybe it is a bit more difficult to see the great cinema of the day on first showing now, but already this year there has certainly been more than 15 great movies even if we limit things to US cinema only.

Neither as artistic mediums are all equally valid?

Me, but that's more because I watch an ungodly level of cinema.

I love Mud, but I've mentally filed it as 2012.

I am dazed and confused at this statement.

The audio experience of the movies has been one of the most consistently interesting this year since I don't know. The early '30s?

Exactly. The dinosaurs may be dying out, but all of the tiny mammals are still rocking it.

It is probably the best scene ever. Check out the movie. You'll (probably) be pleasantly surprised.

Heaven's no. They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

I prefer the tagline: Elia did not have very creative seed.

That would be funny if that was the reviewer's name.
