I have watched this show sporadically, then sat down and powered through hours of it at a time, and I've come to the conclusion that I don't get it. Its all over the place. Its like it can't figure out just what kind of a show it wants to be. Camp? check. No, now moral - check. No, now immoral - check. What I do know

Totally agree. Stefan and Caroline's friendship was one of the high points of tVD, and this romance is forced, creepy and undid excellent characterization. If the writers have been consistent with one thing this season , it's been stripping all the characters of real personalities and making them ghosts of what they

I think the AVclub should ditch tVD reviews and do the originals instead. A much better show (in spite of its flaws).

Agreed. But I still wouldn't have felt a thing (OK, maybe relief that she's gone), because the writers never got me to care. Remember when Jenna died in season 2? That I cared about, because she was a 3dimensional, likeable and relatable character. The writers don't know how to make characters like that anymore, and

If it's a doppelganger, I'll kill myself. A dragon would actually work……it would fall in line perfectly with the nonsense season 7 has been. Totally agree on the Enzo comment. Scary.

Well, that was something. Still not enough. This whole season needs a character to wake up and make the whole season a dream. I know……Dallas did it centuries ago, but this is tVD. The writers no longer have an original thought anyway.

True…. From time to time. I still think Cami will die. I'm OK with that
Haley on the other hand? No dieing there. We're stuck with her.

I like this show, and it is what it is, but this ep was bad - even for Supergirl. It's like they blew the season budget on the flash ep, so this is what we get.

True, but they could do more with Cami, now that's she's a vamp. It's more likely she'll get staked before seasons end. Haley is growing on me. Way better than what she was like when she first appeared on tVD.

Oh yeah. Wanted an epic splat.

Agreed! Kelly was no redshirt - she was as much of a developed character as everyone else on this show - maybe even more! The mystique surrounding her - very compelling. #BringBackKelly forever!

I absolutely hated Chick last season, but now I think he's great! Not looking forward to Duncle's return, tho.

"I was too busy worrying about Norman and marrying you to have time to piss anybody off this week" (or something to that effect). LMAO. I love it!

Hey - I need some help with something. I am guessing that during the 3 year period that tVD did the jump, Matt spent that time ridding Mystic Falls of vampires, cleaning it up and repopulating it with humans as it obviously was that way when Finn and Elijah showed up. (I'm assuming this because tVD hasn't bothered to

The Originals is far superior to tVD on so many levels and ways. I'm quite enjoying it. It has its flaws, but at least it tells a story and creates meaningful characters that are developed. never thought it would be good, but it is.

    you're right. My bad

I now. that was harsh. I guess I'm upset that she has been reduced to more who she was pre-vampire, and she is my favourite character.

Oh, and don't get me started on the Phoenix stone. They are making this up as they go along. Now 200 "souls" are free? Rayna has done nothing but mark her prey for generations, and she only caught 200? VD once was praised for its fast shocking story telling. Now it's just sped up nonsense. We need to be invested in

Ditching enzo is always a good thing. Always hated that character, even when VD was still a decent show.

Ok……not. Who writes this stuff? This episode was a joke. It's almost like the writers create a different story each week, using bits of thread meant to tie it together in a larger "arc". The relationship between the brothers mean nothing. It's boring, out of character and negates 6 seasons worth of character
