Yeah, I don't mind that they branched out into new things. The food and wiki wormhole stuff can be pretty enjoyable.
Meant to be heard in intense, serious Ka D'argo tone.
It is codependent. And it makes sense. Lorelai's been locked into this thing Rory's whole life, and since she herself was 16, after having left everything else behind. Surely it's made her a little weird too.
I remember it as April's mom breezed in from another kooky Connecticut town, and I shrugged and thought "okay".
"George W and Clinton made out, at the urging of the other frat brothers. Clinton slipped W the tongue, but W one-upped him by shot-gunning a bong hit into his mouth, relieving the future President of the need to inhale."
"Nobody ever listens to anything anyone says. It's all about volume."
I think he's the sanest character. Maybe a bit dreary sometimes, but we can't all be goddamn bohemians and socialites, can we?
In the interest of accuracy, Crichton was never Captain of anything.
All good. I just see it different.
Hey Gwen, I'm really pleased you're picking up the GG writeups.
I thought he was a flawed, interesting foil for Lorelai. An example of whether she could be comfortable with the best her "neighborhood" had to offer. (Turns out, no.)
Right. 2014 is not just when the Dissolve exodus happened, but when the site and commentariat acquired its, I guess, "neo-millennial" sensibility.
I feel you. The first time I watched the series, it took me a good half dozen episodes to "get" Crichton, who can be trying (as they all can).
Yeah, I'm not anti-sports at all, but that's…handled already.
Exactly. The Shield, Avatar the Last Airbender, NewsRadio…not only did the AV Club writers really shine, but the commenters brought their best, most intelligent selves. The Shield writeups had a commenter that wrote summary posts that were goddamn masterpieces…for free.
"What’s that? A series canceled before it could complete its story, brought back for a hasty, overlong wrap-up because those involved just couldn’t leave well enough alone?"
This is all well and good, but there are Farscape writeups to read on this site.
(Reply-posted to intrusively show up early in this thread.)
Hey, all you red-blooded geek-a-nerds!
