I grew up watching Bollywood-movies. Most people who watch them would have difficulties remembering about the characters, but most associate the films with specific actors and the stories. That's how most people relate to a piece of fiction.
He COULD die this hour. Anything CAN happen. But 1) it won't, since making the highest grossing film means something for Fox. 2) From what I can remember no Fox movie that's not a Cameron movie has made a billion. 3) In Hollywood you fail upwards. Case in point: Zack Snyder getting to make two Justice League movies.

Most stories go like this: good, normal person in everyday life. Then something happens to said good normal person and he or she must go on a quest/adventure to gain back what he or she lost. Good wins over evil forces. The end.
Names matter less than the function of characters in the story. They could've called them person A or Mr Blue and it wouldn't change a thing.

I abhor assembly line filmmaking, something TFA was, and Disney's latest movies are. You should notch up your expectations for blockbuster filmmaking.

Seriously. Aliens? Only remember Ripley. My favourite film; A Separation; only remember Nader and Simin. I'm more interested in the story, setting, ideas, technology etc, than being a fan-boy and using time on the clothes and insignia of characters.
If Oscar nominations, nor box office legs at least give as a basis for NOT dismissing a film as 1) quality-wise exellent, and 2) financially a blockbuster, then what metric should we use to decide these things?
Since when is remembering names= quality? It isn't. Most people go the movies to forget about the troubles of everyday life, not to obsess about the gown and back-stories of characters.
