Gods of Egypt is insanely bad, so it's a pretty fun watch if you enjoy MST3K-style viewing.

Gods of Egypt is glorious and ripe for a RiffTrax.

It's certainly better than Birdman.

Yeah, they're both solid bands.

The Sellout by Paul Beatty. I caught a BBC interview with Mr. Beatty and was so impressed with what he was saying that I immediately picked up his latest, which won the Man Booker Prize.

That comment threw me off too. I actually thought it was a weird attempt at snark until she made a similar comment later on in the review. Having been to hundreds of churches in my life, I would say it's more common to pass around the wafers and juice than it is to line up for communion.

I would argue that House of Cards isn't very good either, especially after its first season.

This sounds like House of Cards but in a Vatican setting.

Bruno Mars bears more than a passing resemblance to Jackson in his prime.

He's great in Stretch.

Hey, it's just an observation. I like my own share of disposable pop, generic indie rock, and hip hop made for suburbia.

It's a crowd-pleaser with great performances, great direction, and a surprisingly bittersweet third act. It's hard to argue against it receiving any of its Golden Globes, but it's not exactly mind-blowing stuff.

It's the AV Club. Disposable pop, generic indie rock, and hip hop made for suburbia are its raison d'etre.

Watch your language. He was clearly typing cliche.

Frank Sinatra - "That's Life"

Manchester Orchestra - "Simple Math"

My apartment flooded New Year's Eve, at about 11:30PM, so I guess that was technically 2016. Besides having to stay in a hotel for a couple of weeks, 2017 isn't starting out too bad.

Paddington was surprisingly great.
