Okay, I'll give it another try, thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the advice, that's what I was hoping to hear. I actually like watching podcasts on VPN and Youtube, I'm just not a fan of the audio-only experience. I'll give it another try.

I'm right there with you, though I haven't been able to get into podcasts in general. I started with CBB's John Mulaney and Anthony Jeselnek episode, whom I both really enjoy, and only made it about 15 minutes in.

Wasn't Bieber in the headlines for something that had to do with Anne Frank as well?

MacGruber is a classic. It's one of the most quotable movies ever.

As soon as I pay off my student loans (ten years from now?), the first thing I'm doing is blasting "Sallie Mae Back" by Dee-1.

Ha, I approve.

What are you listening to? I'm going to shill House of Heroes' new concept album Colors until the actual release of it because it is fantastic. True rock & roll, and an interesting story.

Walter Isaacson's biography of Benjamin Franklin, given to me by a professor who said that he was the Founding Father that I am most like. It's interesting, but not really my sort of thing. Also rereading C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity, which is more my speed.

Okay, I get this. From what I've heard, his music definitely creates a certain almost-melancholic atmosphere. It is interesting that you say that you think his voice "belongs to the music," because one of my complaints is that I think his voice sort of floats on top of the backing track. Thanks for the comment though,

Well yeah, obviously. That wasn't a sarcastic question, I honestly want to know what people like about him so that I can focus on those aspects when I hear his music.

It was pretty swell! I saw the Beach Boys perform this weekend at the Memorial Day concert in DC, which is something I wasn't expecting to do in my lifetime. Also, received my prerelease copy of House of Heroes' new concept album Colors, which is phenomenal and probably going to be my album of the year.

What is the appeal of this guy? I've tried to listen to his stuff, but it always bores me to death and/or annoys me so much that I have to turn it off. He mewls more than Sam Smith, and the "music" is usually just syncopated percussion and boring synths.

Yeah, I finally bought The Orange Box over the weekend (only a decade after it came out) and finished it in a few hours. It's dated, of course, but certainly fun to play and a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Speaking of which, I played Portal for the first time this weekend. It was fantastic.

It seems like the new Goosebumps was chasing that market, but I never saw it.

Who's that?

Favorite rap verse? I would have to say mine is Pigeon John's verse in his song "The Last Sunshine." I love the way he plays with melody and rhythm while showcasing his storytelling skills.

Easily my favorite comedy of the millenium.

That comment surprised me as well. Either way, MadTV was actually funny. SNL was always far more hit-or-miss.
