Great suggestion about Haley, Alex and Manny. I agree. They could get a ton of mileage out of their comings-of-age. I also like the Phil and Claire storylines, or just Phil. And Jay is always funny. Gloria was great in the first season before she just became a stereotype. She used to defy stereotypes, to some extent.

So we have a place to comment on The Middle/Goldbergs/blackish (nods to commenters above).

I admit I liked how the first season would end with that twinkly sounding music and the voice-over summing it all up, I enjoyed the sap a little bit sometimes. They did use that song last season, but the storylines and the whole feel of the show aren't the same. It used to be clever, surprising, and fresh.

And his crush on Haley…I guess they are trying to make that a "thing" with him, but it's not funny…

There is a review of the black-ish season premiere, but they mention they won't be doing it weekly.

Food? This is the A/V Club for nerds and geeks, we just eat whatever our mom brings to us down in the basement…

It made sense that Jay was wealthy, but Phil was supporting 5 people….whatever, it's fiction.

Oh! And The Real O'Neals!

I hope they still review The Middle.

The first season was so good…

It never fails to surprise me how they jet off to exotic locations with no concern for the cost. Last season when Claire and Phil went to Paris comes to mind. This is still post-recession, as far as I'm concerned! Then I discovered The Middle. It's much more relatable, and also hilarious. I laughed at Gloria throwing

Lol…AND while the a/c isn't working…

Lol…AND while the a/c isn't working…

I can't quote it (and it's not under the quotes section on imdb!?), but Tony and Christopher's conversation about refusing the favor was another classic Christopher line…

He WAS well-dressed, neat, and never married! Hmm.

That is a good point…loophole.

Quibble…I thought he said "I'll have time to write my memoirs….FINALLY." Because I thought "what is he, like 30?" But either way.

I liked how they showed Chrissy's face while she was explaining it. It really hit home.

It's that 1% of hope that something, somehow, saves her, even when feel down we KNOW…damn.

She KNOWS, but by this point probably doesn't even bother to consider the specifics.
