You're giving the first 8 eps too much credit. It went off the rails long before that.

Yup, groaned out loud when they did the jump cut. I can't believe any writer can still use that with a straight face.

I'm pretty much a Homeland apologist, but that was a spectacularly misjudged episode following on from the relatively fast paced season we just had. Why on Earth they thought *now* would be the time to hit the brakes and deal with Mother issues I'll never know.

On the plus side, who gives a shit about the Grammys?

It looks like a Malick movie. People will decide whether that's a good or a bad thing accordingly.

I could do without the voiceovers in his movies, but I'm always down for Malick fever dream experience.

It's an annoying term, but I think there is still a word necessary to describe the prevailing phenomenon of sites like Pitchfork and Stereogum reporting on Beyonce, Swift, Minaj, et al with even more prevalence than alternative acts, which are ostensibly their thing.

Kudos indeed, I just wish he made better music. FFs haven't release a half decent album since 1999.

Or they illegally download them. I hear you can do that now.

I wish there were more superhero movies.

So the cops knew that Internal Affairs were setting them up…

Nice song, annoyingly edited video.

Oh, there was a backlash. If it wasn't complaining about the show's pretentious introspection, it was the supposedly terrible final 2 episodes or the sexist characterizations of women.

True Detective beat Fargo, which is the important thing [wink emoticon]. Given the totally predictable backlash TD had to endure over the last few months I'm glad the AV Club didn't chicken out in its top 5 placing.

If Johnny Marr's so smart how come he's dead?

"The casting of Alison was a mistake. The actress plays her like trailer park trash."

At least Quinn has something to do for the first time since… I can't remember when.

Yes, at the very least I'm not sure how Melancholia could be construed as misogynistic - all the men in are it are horrible.

Huge fan of the film but, for some reason, have yet to buy this book. I will now.

The detective scenes are a really big deal for you, aren't they? Not that I necessarily disagree but you might want to change the record at some point.
