Clea Duvall
I remember her from HBO's "Carnivale"

Because they're similar styles of music. Blooz rock.
SRV is just really good at guitar.

Frank Zappa, "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mamma"

When I attended a taping of Colbert a few months ago, the crew kept telling us to applaud and cheer wildly and even made us rehearse it.
As one of them explained- these are performers and they feed off of crowd energy.
I remember a similar vibe for Letterman, and that was many years ago.

His food stuff was always aces. My favorite was about some frozen fake chicken wings thing that had to be called Wyngz (or some such stupid spelling) because legally they would have to have actually chicken wing meat to be sold as "wings."
What put it over the top for me was his insisting on pronouncing it like

That woman was Lena Horne, a superstar singer, actress and activist that someone his age should know if he wasn't in Congress.

Well said, agreed

There's got to be a happy middle ground between accepting individual tastes and tolerating splenda in good scotch though.

I'm not going to excoriate you for preferring bourbon, I'm going to excoriate you for stressing the myth that age = quality. All age really does, after a certain point, is add an "oaky" flavor because it's in the cask longer. I have been enjoying some 8-year old scotches from excellent distilleries lately and it's a

Does AV Club even like video games? Like… at all?

I always call her Mary J. Bilge because of that scene now.

AC Initiates was a neat idea, with lore and a parallel modern story doled out in bite-size chunks. Then it went down and now it looks like it's part of this multi-media monstrosity you describe.

The last couple of games also came out glitched then mostly patched, so I am assuming the same will be true for Unity. I was already planning on waiting a few months before I pick it up.

Yeah but those were maybe like 10 - 20 years from the real times they were there.

The whole accent thing has never really been consistent in the franchise.
Altair sounded like an American but everyone else around him had an Arabic type accent though they were all Arabic.

I'm also considering Dragon Age- basically 'cause I'm on PC and Unity is super-glitchy and Rogue isn't out yet.
But I've never played the other DAs, and I know these RPGs are a huge time investment. I'm hesitant to pay full price for a new game and then get bored but I need something to play now that I finished Shadow

There are lady pirates in Black Flag.
It's funny- when it came out so much of the reaction was negative- it's not a "real" AC game 'cause you're a pirate, there are too many pointless collectibles, criticisms of the "modern day" story taking you out of immersion, etc. Now it's looked at as a highlight of the series.

Re: PC version, I remember reading a statement by a Ubisoft exec that they fear PC because of pirating. I believe their PC ports are poor due to prioritizing it so low for that reason, maybe even deliberately sabotaging it.

Well, yeah, that's why I wait at least a month before playing any new games.

Well to be fair you'd have to ask those who do the snark. But the reason I've seen is because they are considered part of the whole "grunge" thing, which is a fad that either people got over or, if they're younger, is anachronistic (like disco or whatever).
