I don't think it's bad at all. I loved it, and in my opinion it was the best movie of 2015. I was just warning that guy that *that movie* is revered almost as a holy gospel around here, and thus, it wouldn't be the best of ideas to bad-mouth it so openly.

You must new to AV Club, man.
You don't say a bad word against *that movie* here. Seriously. These folks out here will track you down and kill ya.

Who knew that Jada Pinkett-Smith would have so much power, to basically make the Academy apologize to her for four hours.

No offense, but if you seriously thought DiCaprio wasn't going to win this year, if only based on pure social pressure, you deserved to loose.

Shouldn't have had that cold water before the cerimony, Sam.

First "musical kick-out" of the night. 1 and counting.

Because the people who handle the votes are mostly accountants, and accountants, as I'm sure you know, are completely soulless beings devoid of any passion or greed.

Except that the movie industry / pop-culture landscape in '77 was much, MUCH different than it is today (and not for the best.)

I like the idea that the world of "Fury Road" and the calm farm-life of "Interstellar" are both happening at the same time.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree entirely. I think the primary purpose of movies is to be, first and foremost, entertaining. If they say some "truth" along the way, great, but that's an addition. The core of cinema is, to me, to be that proverbial "factory of dreams".
I'd much rather take a movie that is honest

Admit it, that would make it much more exciting than the British version.

Most of the military dicatorships that plagued South America during the Cold War (my country lived through one too) were all put in place with coups that were usually done with the aproval and the support of the US Government.
In the particular case of my country (Brazil), there's tapes of the US Ambassador having

I don't think they could've "smelled it in the wind". Even with the movie thing, I don't think Stewart was considering leaving just yet. He was visibly tired, but still going strong.
I think what really pushed the limit was Colbert leaving, along with a varray of his correspondents at a really short period of time.

As much as it pains me to say it….. I don't think so. Not that Noah won't start hating the American political system (if he doesn't already). But he won't be busting out the briliant satire of Stewart and Colbert because, quite simply….. he's just not as good as Stewart and Colbert.

They really should look at the trailers for Psycho and The Birds, and take some tips. I mean, the trailers are just Alfred Hitchcock walking around and talking about stuff, but, honestly, they are some of the best suspense trailers I've ever seen. Shame that formula is pretty much impossible these days.

Oh, you sweet summer child…..

That is true (somewhat)…… in the real world.

He plays Orlando Bloom's dad.
I actually didn't know that either until I saw an Oscar skit with Seth Rogen and James Franco playing those stoner characters they did, and they said that Orlando Bloom's dad also played that one guy in "Mama Mia" (yes, I saw Mama Mia. I hate myself too.)
I thought they were joking, until I

The one with Tommy Lee Jones. I can't recall the title, but you know the one I'm talking about. I mean, come on, Harrison fucking Ford and Tommy Lee fucking Jones, man.

*sighs* It's Mr. Two-Time Academy Award Nominee Jonah Hill to you, sir!
