But that's kind of saying Wonder Woman deserves its lofty place only because of how lousy the other D.C. movies are by comparison. Like, it was in the right place at the right time, because if those movies were less shitty, no one would pay attention to Wonder Woman.

Its disgraceful that despite having such well-regarded movies and such a deep bullpen of characters, Marvel couldn't find any female superheroes worthy of their own movies before 2018. Letting the much-maligned DC universe beat them to the punch is just ridiculous.

But our hemlines stray closer to our crotches.

Opening this weekend, Iliza on Me.

I won't forget either Oslo or Ewchbacca.

What, you think asparagus water grows on trees??

he does a bit composed of some oddball wordplay
he does a bit comprising some oddball wordplay

I saw him at Amy Schumer's comedy tour a couple years ago, and of the five or six people comedians on the bill, he was by far the least funny. Like, there were long stretches of dead silence.

Who cares about the drummer for Genesis, whoever that is? It was that lead singer guy who really knows his music.

This quote by Elizabeth Banks was crude, rude, and unladylike.

Why don't you just rub it in Tom Hardy's face, Holland?

You're close…it turns out Mandy Moore is many sharks in a trench coat.

Wonder Woman examples are pretty few and far between. There are barely any characters whose motivations are almost entirely "male" or "female" such that a flipped gender would really seem ill-fitting. And that's especially so for original characters, who aren't beholden to prior depictions in comics, novels or TV

I kind of doubt that's the only issue and if she had said Spielberg mostly casts men as his leads, everyone would be cool with it. Even a brief scan of these comments shows that it's not just a matter of forgetting The Color Purple.

Point being, I don't know it's still so commonly implied that men writing women (or vice versa) is strange or alien. It's like, of course a man would barely make any movies starring women in lead roles, because who can even understand those people, amirite??

I get your point in the abstract, but if you think about, doesn't that mean every writer should exclusively stick to their own gender, race and ethnicity when it comes to creating lead characters?

By fake animals.

I heard they were rescued by Perdita Weeks.

I thought it was pretty clear I was joking. Unless, like, I actually did live under your roof at some point.
