Sgt. Slaughter as an ISIS supporter?
Sgt. Slaughter as an ISIS supporter?
Do you still like the characters or just the fact that they're a thing you had as a kid? If it's the latter, there's no replacement for that so don't bother. If it's the former, I don't see the big deal in having a newer version.
I can't believe they're making a sequel to that 1994 classic without even inviting Michael Keaton back!!
Oh, I see…it's not actual money he's giving to charity, it's fake money because it derives from his collection! Why, I bet the charities he donates to can't even USE that money for anything! If only he generated it by selling baked goods or washing cars, THAT would be legitimate and respectable.
Cue nine million lame Star Wars jokes ignoring the more important fact that this was massive theft from a charity. Maybe if it was Rolexes or cars or gold bullion or something, the true value and deplorability of Cunningham's theft would be better appreciated.
Slow-burn storytelling is fine. The plot clearly advanced, albeit slowly. What truly marred the season was how self-indulgent Esmail became. The prison twist shouldn't have taken half the season. The '90s sitcom should've been only a few minutes long. The ridiculous interrogation scene with the little kid shouldn't…
There's not really any Gilliam movies that are just plain terrible. There's always something interesting or intriguing (at least visually) in everything he's done. So no, Zero Theorem wasn't truly awful, and Brothers Grimm thankfully wasn't Hansel & Gretel, due in large part to the prowess of Ledger and Damon.
Way to dismiss volumes of criticism. Yeah, it's all because there wasn't an instant payoff. Nothing else.
A studio might impose budgetary restraints or nix certain sequences, practical effects, etc., but it doesn't literally tell him what HAS to be CGI or how it has to look. And the CGI in his recent movies has been distractingly bad. Dr. Parnassus went off the rails in the last act because of it.
Me hearing this announcement before Mr. Robot season 2: "That sounds awesome! Esmail can do no wrong!"
Don't forget the biggest challenge of all: Gilliam's constant reliance on shitty CGI.
Yeah, it's called Congress!
Or seeing it because you liked the originals and wanted to see more of that same type of adventure. Or seeing it because you like movies about paranormal stuff. Or seeing it because you think Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, et al., are funny and talented.
Oh right, the "annoying controversy" A.V. Club publicized endlessly and included in every single article about the movie. A.V. Club proudly owns its share of that shitshow…don't even try to pretend you were ever detached from it.
I don't know, but I'd sure as hell watch any of those guys as Dracula.
True, but the original Universal Monsters were often in each other's movies. They've basically been in a shared universe the entire time.
Why? Is 80 years still not enough time to wait before Universal can re-visit the story?
The original's an all-time classic, but that doesn't mean the character needs to be permanently retired.
and that fucking sister!
Not a good movie, but it had some memorably scary moments. I'd rather a few really good scares in an otherwise bad movie than an overall mediocre movie that leaves little impression.
Also Green Room.
