Oh, OK.

Here was the pitch for The Postman:
"Kevin, before you say anything, I have to tell you we will not greenlight another post-apocalyptic movie set in an aquatic world. That being said, what project are you here to talk about today?"
"It's a post-apocalyptic movie set on land!"
"Greenlight!"

This was back when Kevin Costner could have made anything…until he did and made Waterworld, which I kinda like but that's neither here nor there.

I can't even remember if I saw it. Yeah, a rape scene wouldn't be appropriate for kids. But why did they make this movie at all? The cartoon Disney Robin Hood movie was perfection!

I don't understand the complaint about the rape scene. Rape occurred then as it occurs now. Aren't rape scenes supposed to be disturbing? Doesn't it make sense to have them be as off-putting as possible to convey how fucked up rape is?

A pointless Inventory. Why make a list of soundtracks nobody heard of in order to warn people to not listen to them?

Siamese Dream is one of the best alternative records of all time.

I kinda like that tagline. Taglines shouldn't be short, they should be long and awkward.

Once something becomes popular it gets whipped to death.

Yeah, I know, and The Sopranos is also responsible for all of these shows about anti-heroes. A show about a cop who is not corrupt would be a breath of fresh air on the TV landscape. Everything is so fucking cynical. It's all so banal.

That would be a hit, because gluten allergy is trending pretty well lately. It would be really relateable for those with the allergy, as well as hypochondriacs and paranoid moms.

LOL

Love reading F grade reviews. I read them with glee, glee I tells ya! I think avclub should collect them and publish them in a coffee table book.

I saw the trailer for this in the theater, and it was followed by the Walk Amongst The Tombstones one, and then another trailer for another copycat movie. These shits are so formulaic that I think Hollywood is just trolling moviegoers.

"Scorpion: He uses his mind to strike down his prey. CBS, Monday."

So, essentially this book is a literary version of MST3K?

The movie star doing the cameo is Johnny Depp.

Nice to see such a strong embrace of multi-culturalism.

Why did Cicely leave Weekend Update? She's good and stuff. Hopefully it's so she can bring back the girl you're sorry you started a conversation with at a party.

Yeah, did they name their band that ironically? "Hey, let's be shitty and derivative, and call ourselves the exact opposite of what we are!" Surefire way to win a Grammy!
