Blue Bloods may be the worst show I have ever watched in my life. The whole concept seems to revolve around a world in which right wing talking points are the same as reality. The acting is wooden, especially as you move down the age scale, the characters are just broad cliches (the war hero, the ivory tower

I first read that as "a 2011 Sarah Polley hagiography". That it's about Sarah Palin, and is universally reviled makes way more sense.

I didn't hate S Darko when I saw it (for the only time). Diminished expectations can be a wonderful thing. I expected a train wreck of epic proportions, and instead got a bad movie. Afterwards, my thought was "that movie was better than I ever imagined it would be".

Based on my Space Mountain experience, wouldn't it be standing in line for 2 hours to see a 5 minute movie?

But only briefly (the big chase on Earth and the first bit at Mars customs) against Cohaagen's orders. Cohaagen comes around to the need to kill him after he escapes the chair on Mars.

I'm not knocking those guys. But I do feel that agency is important in a villain. At least to reach that top pinnacle of villainousness. Gruber may be stuck with no options but to kill McClain, but it was his plan and he gives the orders. The Terminator tries to kill Sarah Conners because Sky Net programmed it to.

I don't think it's unfair to say that those characters didn't reach the heights of Hans Gruber. Any more than it's unfair to say a silver medalist isn't as good as the champ. Those are all good examples, but none strikes me as better than Rickman in "Die Hard". With a couple of caveats.

To be honest, I'm not a huge Braveheart fan. It was at the height of Mel Gibson playing Mel Gibson in every movie he's in, and Braveheart was no exception. Also, the Irish comic relief character was almost as grating as the whimsical lilt they'd play every time he said something crazy. We get it, he's supposed to

Agreed. I was very underwhelmed by American Hustle. Must have been a slow year for the Oscars.

Amen. Rob Roy didn't need no Irish to stick it to the English. Take that Braveheart!

If you speak fluent English you may not be a Nordiques fan. I believe Quebec's language laws make it a felony.

What about Beachcombers? Or was that too gritty already?

heh heh. That is funny!

This makes me sad for the future. A hoser is a wonderful, glorious thing! Why, I want to go out and talk to a hoser right now!
