Angourie Rice helped a lot as Holly, too.

It deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as "Midnight Run."

He'd been away from the spotlight too long that people probably forgot he wrote "Lethal Weapon." Shane Black deserves better, though. I'd like to think he gave Robert Downey Jr. clout again by casting him in the equally undervalued "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," not to mention redeeming Val Kilmer and introducing Michelle

I thought this was going to be a production of the newfangled Cannon Films, seeing as how they distributed the original. And John Stockwell was a writer and star of their "Dangerously Close," after all.

And Keith Gordon's directorial career is really worth seeking out. "A Midnight Clear" may be my personal fave. It has a great ensemble cast, including many future directors like Peter Berg, Frank Whaley and Ethan Hawke, not to forget Gary Sinise, Kevin Dillon and John C. McGinley.

"I can't deal with striking out on both coasts."

"You four-eyed pile of shit!" "A pile of shit has a thousand eyes!"

"Do you think Mighty Mouse can beat up Superman?"
"I'm the kind of guy that likes to live on the edge."

I saw the movie in my formative teenage years, and almost every line Cusack speaks I ended up learning verbatim. "I'm flunking English. I was wondering whether maybe you could help?" "Nice swimsuit." I can't quote any other 1980s teen movie with as much enthusiasm and still laugh every time I see those lines delivered.

I think it was "Hot Pursuit." The one where Ben Stiller says "Do you realize the street value of this mountain?" (And yes, I do know what movie has the skiing race. I've been watching this movie for seven-and-a-half years. I'm no dummy. I know "How I Got Into College.")

Cusack has a great drunk scene in "The Sure Thing." The moment when he comes back to Zuniga's Alison at the motel is priceless. "You know, this guy Jason may be a real brain and all, but can he do this?"

Three more: The Sure Thing. No questions asked, no strings attached, no guilt involved.

"Gosh, that is weird. What the hell is Goofy?" Vern! :)

I can quote "The Sure Thing" for days, too. "How would you like to have a sexual encounter so intense, it could conceivably change your political views?" "You are a good-looking guy!" "Did you know that Nietzsche died of syphilis?" "I'M TALKING ABOUT A TOTAL MANIAC!!!"

No James Mason in "Bigger Than Life" or skinless Julia from "Hellbound: Hellraiser 2?"

Here's the weird thing about BET. I was watching that in between MTV's own Prince marathon because they were just so jammed with commercials, and when I flipped over, they made an even more hilarious mistake than airing DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's "Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble." BET played a video by Yes, of

I got that photo of Drake with the cigar-cutter signed by him in Dallas a couple years ago. "My name's not Buddy, it's Durant! Robert G. Durant!" Such a great role for the man.

"Should your houseboy's predicament not jog your memory, you may bid him Godspeed!"

I'm glad that "TerrorVision" got a nod and that Mary still considers it funny. Speaking of Diane Franklin, who I must say is incredibly sweet and still as beautiful as her 1980s youth thanks to meeting her in person, she actually talked to Mary for a radio show called "Horror Babes of the 80s" on Cult Radio A Go Go.
