Right. Dr. Doom has good intentions — he believes the world would be better off if he ruled it. Parallax had good intentions when he wanted to restart and "fix" the universe in Zero Hour. Veidt had good intentions in Watchman (and might have been right …), etc.

As a kid of the '80s and '90s, there were plenty of forgettable stories back then too. I can't give any good examples because … they were forgettable.

What should have been a cool Avengers spy book descended into surreal, vaguely plotted silliness, to the point that the resolution had something to do with MODOK's life-altering love for Maria Hill.
Her children were originally manifestations of part of the soul that Master "baby hands" Pandemonium bargained away to Mephisto, which is why MP had a pentagram shaped opening in his torso, and later, baby hands.
His Secret Avengers still makes me angry.

I'd say she's been broken since she first went nuts back in West Coast Avengers, but I'm curious why you think the mystical mutant thing doesn't work anymore? (This book treats her more or less as purely a witch, FWIW.)
