I didn't care his age (he's created by scientists so whatever) and I definitely didn't think of Superman III (in fact, you're probably the first person to think of that movie in a looooong time ;)), but it's so on the nose. Deus Ex Machina and all.
I appreciated the inclusion of that as something so much better than just product placement. It plays to the myth.
That's a whole 'nother thing.
What I mean by cataclysmic doom … OK, so I'm thinking it was at the Munson's, when Logan finds Xavier's body, when you get that really intense score coming in. It's loud and grating and you know that Logan's turning into an animal and losing all humanity at that moment. (If it wasn't at the Munson's, hopefully you…
Yes, cartoon-y is the exact thing that was brought to mind when X-24 was initially introduced.
Don't you think that might be … a little on the nose? Logan's past is violence and mayhem and blood and guts. It's trying to find a balance and failing every time because he can't just be left alone and, because of that, can't control his rage. I would go so far as to say having a character's past represented by a…
Yeah but I'm not suggesting he was created specifically for that purpose. It's merely that bringing him in seemed like deus ex machina, in a way. "Whoa! Wolverine and X-23 are impossible to stop together! … Unless we introduce a much younger Wolverine! Oh, by the way …"
I'd say it's an element of "The X-Men represent faith/strength/redemption". Or something. Hence taking a cross and altering it to represent the X-Men more specifically.
I liked redneck Brad Pitt. I was put off by old British suit guy. Definitely agree with that sentiment in regard to X-24. It kind of seemed like he's an answer to "How do you stop an impossible-to-kill killing machine?!" without regard for the fact that Wolverine, while still a fucking badass, is old and slow and not…
Again, totally fair! It's a great movie. I'm being nit-picky. I kind of have that tendency. But if they wanted to do the dark reflection I think they could have approached X-24 differently. He was more like a broken robot than a feral animal, I felt. What could they have done to make it better? I'm not sure. Maybe…
Sabretooth could have, potentially, been really amazing. I suppose if he had been with the mercenaries that might have been neat. Gosh, I've kind of forgotten about Sabretooth as a character. How fucked up is it that they got fucking Liev Schreiber to play him in Origins? Jesus Christ. They should have gotten the guy…
That's fair, but to me, if they were going to work with Logan's DNA it seemed likely that the X-24 would have been the obvious choice earlier on, and then they would have developed something more sinister, though I'm not sure what that would have been—X-24 was created for the film, after all. (And the inclusion of Mr.…
Yeah. In a way they didn't really seem to have the sense of … urgency and impending, cataclysmic doom they should have had.
This movie was great. The only issue I had with it at all was X-24. The addition of this character just seemed … hokey.
I only mention this because I just made a reference to her the other day (wherein I discovered this), but they actually spell it "Koko". Whoever named that gorilla should have been told "proper spellings only". They're only lucky they're not in New Zealand.
I came here to say this. I do hope you're referencing Loretta, as Rollo suggested, and not The White Stripes.
The Parents Television Council sound like a bunch of cvnts.
My mother was raped by a stiff breeze. :(
Not what they're referencing.
