That's not what they're referencing. They're referencing Octavia Spencer's role on 30 Rock.

"Coons? When black people tried to get in our back porch, Momma just chase 'em off with a broom!"
Maybe it wasn't a joke, maybe she's just scared to go on a date with a black guy.
They don't seem to have. But I don't think that people should have whined at Jost for that joke, either.
People talk about it, I've seen it mentioned here several times.
They had worked in some pretty good jokes for what it was; 30 Rock is one of my favorite shows to Netflix. I feel like Dick Lemon made some other risque comments as well, but if so I can't find them.
I said you could Google it! Not that you should!
You could simply Google it, you'd find the answer quick. I would probably make sure that when you do the search you turn the safe search on so you don't actually see it … but this being a "pop culture" site, allegedly, I'm going to say that the answer lies in a quote from Liz Lemon's dad on 30 Rock:
Haha, I mean, it could, but no …
And this is why I never pull out.
I tried to encourage people to denounce hipsters and their evil ways but they wouldn't listen. Eventually I was forced into exile and forced to live a normal life, with normal people, and to make more money.
Wow, that artist statement makes them sound like a bunch of whiny-ass bitches. They use the terms "narc" and "rat them out". Dear god.
Portland has turned into a real shithole.
Yes, and it's SXSW's fault that Trump has the views on immigration that he does.
Yeah. "Supposed to be."
I don't know, that's not really his thing, is it?
I wonder where Red will put his foot.
"Oh, James. I'd sue you for this, but the only thing you have is bitterness and obscurity."
No problem. I think the only people who think vegetarianism is expensive are the people who don't really eat vegetables. And sure, if you're only looking at bell peppers and tomatoes and such you might think they're expensive. But most produce really is quite inexpensive. And even less expensive if you grow it…
I think you misread my comment. I'm in no way suggesting vegetarianism is expensive. That is, in fact, the exact opposite of what I said.
