And what exactly does your hysterical rant have to do with the TV series "Vikings"? You're a little off topic.

I haven't seen the scene in awhile and it's growing dim but it did seem he would be in harms way if he didn't convert to Ragner's religion. Maybe he is so ashamed of himself he tries to block everything out about his former religion. It would be fitting if he is the one that winds up being a missionary to convert

True qverty, but the aftermath of the Norman invasion was pretty horrific for the Anglo-Saxons.

Adele, you might be interested to know that Christian missionaries always followed the Colonial land grabbers and brought the benefit of modern medicine to the unfortunate people of lesser civilized lands. The same way Mother Theresa brought hope and help to the Untouchables of India who suffered so much. So I'm

So glad that you are able to help Adele think rationally about Christianity. Too bad higher education didn't help her do that.

It does grow tiresome when people call evil good and good evil doesn't it?

Hi Fay Apple, I didn't read your post after the first couple of sentences when it became apparent you were not able to discuss the subject matter of Christianity rationally. You have apparently been brainwashed to consider all Christians evil and that is sad.
You must remember that Christians in the middle ages

Still can't believe they sent poor Patty to prison for being brain washed either.

Don't forget that what you hear about Christians nowadays is written by their enemies.

I don't understand the uproar received when stating a simple fact that the Vikings didn't hesitate to kill young children during their raids. They already knew the value of psychological warfare and their victims were paralyzed with fear when confronting them, which was the desired effect.

I'm glad they left all the abuse of women out of the program even though I'm pretty sure a lot of abuse occurred to the poor women victims. No need to go into gory detail is there?

I'm glad History channel is having success with this program. Do you know what the ratings have been like? Is it anywhere near the Hatfield & McCoy's ratings?

There is a lot of good in the Christian religion and it's sad that people only focus on the negative and don't consider what benefit it could have been to the Vikings when they converted. We have to judge the people of the middle ages as creatures of their time and it was a very cruel time wasn't it?

Calm down 08a and then I will attempt to respond to your irrational rantings. The Vikings were a product of their time and acted accordingly.

The Blood Eagle is too well documented to be merely a rumor I'm afraid. It certainly put the fear of God into the English warriors and rightly so. It must have been terrifying to face them in battle.

I suggest cowsharky that you google Blood Eagle and read more about it, it wasn't made up and was pretty horrific.
As I stated several times, I can accept the Vikings as they were way back when, they were a product of their times and acted accordingly. I wouldn't be watching this series if I didn't find them

Good point Swan, and I heartily appreciate your proper respect for all religions here, something a few others need to take note of.
The Jews in their era were only sacrificing animals when the heathens around them were into child sacrifice. No wonder the Jewish faith has lasted so long, a sure sign of being based on

I started reading your comments but had to stop as it was obvious that a rational discussion with you would not be possible You keep changing the subject from Vikings to evil Christians. You are not able to separate your emotions from your intellect and discuss the GOOD things that Christianity brought to its

Adele, I never said adopting Christianity = means no more raiding did I so please stop putting words in my mouth. I was talking about how adopting Christianity benefited the Vikings and began the civilization of modern Europe.
If the meaning of the word civilization depends on the context in which it is used,

Of course Vikings had laws against theft I never said they didn't. What I DID say was they had no problem stealing things that belonged to people other than Vikings. With the advent of their conversion to Christianity they extended those laws against stealing to other Christians as well. Before, the laws against
