Couple theories regarding back stories.

I remember reading that reviewers who like Trump hate this season.  Boy do I see why, honestly I'm fine with that.  This isn't an era of subtlety.

This is actually the opposite of the predictions though. The (very plausible) assumption was that Zaslav was tasked with bringing WB’s debt under control to make them more attractive for being consumed into a larger entity, probably Comcast. Merging Paramount into the blob is very much an absorption the other

WBD is also massively debt ridden as a result of the previous merger.

You just know somewhere a list is being made of all the Paramount content to delete for no good reason whatsoever.

And then Disney buys this new merged company in 2027.

And there it is. I saw a number of people earlier this year predict that Zaslav’s goal was to make WBD more appealing for a merger of some kind.

It makes a hell of a lot more sense than ATT buying Discovery and WB, I’ll say that much.

I don’t understand why jettisoning the existing plot, to the extent there is one, is more exciting or preferable to just recasting the guy. Just finish what you started, right? Hastily pivoting to a totally different villain with a totally different gimmick sounds like it wouldn’t make anyone happy.

Might be a stretch here but it may not be a coincidence, and may be foreshadowing, that Mr. Wrench is deaf and a few characters have suffered ear injuries this season (Ole getting hit by the skate, Gator having Ole shoot the gun right next to his ear, Roy getting nicked during his haircut).

Mr. Wrench’s theme song played during the tracker reveal.

Noah Hawley writing this season (and to be clear, I think this is a very good thing):

It scares me to think that there are people out there who unironically think Roy Tillman is an aspirational figure and is the hero of this season. There are still conservatives that think Archie Bunker was right about everything and not the actual butt of every joke. People who didn’t understand that Homelander was

Somehow out of all the seasons, Lars feels like the most loathsome.  An even more pathetic and loser version of Lester from season 1.  I kinda hope he has a nasty fate, almost as bad as Jon Hamm.  I don't know what's more infuriating, that everyone lets him play god, or that I only need to turn on Fox News to see

Any bets on how they'll link this season to one of the past ones? All the other seasons have had a returning character, I'm pretty sure.

I assumed Munch’s out-of-time coat was Mama’s, or at least something out of her closet.

A few weeks ago, I said Lorraine gives me Mom from Futurama vibes. Well, her husband could be Franklin Sherman from The Critic.

Maybe those entitled douchebag types should just be called “Brent” now. He’s made a compelling argument in favor of doing so throughout this comment section.

“It’s not as funny as it used to be”

Hopefully it was a creative decision. If I’m watching a tv show, I enjoy it more if I know nobody fucked it.
