The deadline for submissions was October 29, 2015. So if they saw Star Wars, they saw it way ahead of time.

You mean you hope the hand-picked jury made up of scholars, critics, and people in the industry saw all of the movies that got submitted to the AFI.

The deadline to submit to the AFI was October 29, 2015. If Star Wars is on there, it's because Disney submitted an application (with a screener) to the AFI.

Anthony D: Star Wars: The Force Awakens is on there. Although they didn't really need to see the movie to include it since the buildup to the movie probably qualified it to be on the list more than the movie itself (which I have yet to see). But assuming they did see the movie, that would imply that they got screeners

I think Empire earns the spot on the list because of it's season one ratings explosion. It really captivated the American audience in a way few shows are able to do now.

Yes, the American Film Institute only looks at American works. The point of the AFI is to support, promote, and celebrate American film/television as part of American culture. It wouldn't really make sense for them to consider movies/TV from other countries.

Wow, you really don't like that people are capable of disagreeing with you.

I like the The Phantom Menace (yes, I do like it) and Revenge of the Sith. As for Attack of the Clones…I have mixed feelings about it. Essentially I like the Third Act and the first two Acts when it's concentrating on action or Obi-Wan scenes. The romance arc and Anakin's creepy stares kill a lot of what AOTC has

At least this makes sense considering who she turned out to be. Honestly should have been a red flag something was off about her…then again, everybody was cool with her staging evidence and letting a killer go free to catch a serial killer. Stupid Asher, caring about the law and integrity and justice.

She says it was a crime of passion that she found so presumably the passion wasn't her frustration at not catching the serial killer and killing it but rather the significant other of the victim. Or Joshia seems to think maybe it was her. The point is..who knows?

Season 2 is pretty fantastic. But man, are you in for a treat with Season 3's roller coaster ride. Season 4, if I remember, was pretty divisive but it's one of the boldest ever on TV. Season 5 is a pretty great send-off. I'd recommend reading the AV Club reviews though.

The Once and Future King is truly a brilliant novel. Or at least until Wart grows up in which case it's still brilliant but I'm not as in love with it.

Wowa, that Shadow of Mordor paragraph makes me want to buy it now.

I thought the episode was fine and good but it's kinda funny that this one episode did more for the Nick-Adalind relationship than the first 4 seasons did for the Nick-Juliette relationship.

Ah but Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (the movie Pops wanted to see in theaters and why they sat through the timeshare sell) came out in 1985. A whole year before Top Gun.

Ah, Zach Braff. The poor man's version of James Franco.

This week's rankings:
1) The Goldbergs (not sure if the opening narration had the typical 1980-something BUT the episode was set in 1983. Pops is 80 years old, he was born in 1903, making it 1983.)
2) Black-Ish (I hope Charlie comes back!)
3) The Middle (LOVED the whole convention and the Axl-Sue plot although Brick

Eh, I'd say the Glory Days were Seasons 1-3.

I mean yes they both have the voiceover from the future adult but the similarities really end there. I know some people find the Wonder Years to be overly sentimental but in my opinion it's not only a frontrunner to the rise of the single-camera comedies but it's a true television classic. That first season is one of

I think the episode was a solid C or C-. 2 of the storylines really didn't work for me. The DMX story was a bust, was unnecessary, and asked me to swallow disbelief more than usual. The Louis story never really took off and was predictable. The saving grace was the Honey-Jessica story which worked and brought the
