They also had a Circuit City and a walkman joke. But they can't just move the series to the present day. It was pitched as set in the '90s because that's when Eddie Huang grew up.

I'm more concerned by the eBay joke because eBay's founder was not this fictional character.
Angie Tribeca sounds like the cop version of The Grinder brought to life. I'm all in.
Yeah, that monologue was great. Ed O'Neill killed it.
I'm okay with Luke running away to join the army if it means he's off the show.
I thought this episode was fine. I doubt we'll ever get back to the glory days but at least I actually laughed this week-and throughout the episode as well! That's more than I can say for other episodes this season.
Shockingly Peter Jackson kept his comments short and to the point.
I guess I'm the only one who thinks this actually looks good.
"For those who care to read into them, there were some very uncomfortable racial implications to General Lane angrily declaring that James will never been good enough for his daughter."
I don't think it's bad storytelling. I just think he makes a crappy director of SHIELD. If the writers intended that, then great. If not, then well…
I don't really agree with that. I think because people ARE watching it in such a short period of time, they think that's true. But I think if you put on a random good episode of Jessica Jones then it'll still be a complete, satisfying episode of TV. The show still had cliffhangers and while there might have be less…
Huh? Jessica Jones isn't doing anything new. It could easily fit on HBO or Showtime. Tone down the sex scenes and it fits on most cable channels as well.
They should do an episode a day for these kind of shows IMO.
His name is Joey I believe. By the way, I think him being gay added an interesting dimension when he got his abilities. From one closeted life to being in the open back to a secret life?
Bobby would have kicked ass. Instead of being like "shit! A situation came up that I need to make a call on! Better call Coulson!" She would have been like "Okay, I'm going to analyze this data and come up with a plan."
I could see fridging being an issue in comic books but…look, there are times even in Hollywood when it's necessary to bring up issues of how women, minorities, etc. are being represented. But if you try to do it with every single plot point? My god, we'll never get another story ever again.
Yeah. It's kinda why I'm glad the AV Club dropped the Blacklist reviews. Like the show or not, they literally had a guy review the show that didn't like the premise of the show so he hated every episode. As for Agents of SHIELD, if you don't love the show by now I don't think you will fall in love with the show…
The site is still good though but I'm not sure the reviews would be any different even during the Golden Age. Largely because the AV Club is great when it comes to truly terrible TV (reading the critics suffer breakdowns is always great) or niche prestige TV. But when it comes to mainsteam pop culture shows? AV Club…
Nah, good storytellers repeat themselves but in a way that the audience doesn't notice. I mean this is the third time we've seen SHIELD agents go after Ward this season with an emotional desire for revenge (although May's was cut short) and people have gone through portals before. But as long as the context changes…
Mack is kinda a shitty Acting Director. I don't hate on him like Oliver, I thought he was a fine field agent. But I never saw him as a real leader, more like an adviser to the leader.
