I meant the real life people the other poster was referring to. I've been pretty androgynous most of my life (hopefully more in a Bowie way than a pat way, at least i like to think so), and while a few people have approached me respectfully, most of them have been confrontational because they're assholes.

i don't see bowie, i just see matthew mcconaughey.

I don't think anyone here has claimed to enjoy the Pat sketch. It was an awful sketch.

We are thinking critically. Just because our own conclusions don't match yours, it doesn't mean we didn't put thought into them.

You're fooling yourself if you think people asking "what are you?" are doing so to be polite.

I acknowledged in my post that people used Pat in hurtful ways, but Pat itself was not intended to be hurtful.

While i am also suspicious of people suddenly adopting pet causes when they've decided that it affects them, isn't it possible -and even likely - that she has felt uncomfortable about her gender her entire life and only recently felt comfortable acting upon it given society's shift towards being more accepting?

Yes, the prisons are full of teasers and comedians.

possibly, but Gein is what they call a heavy hitter. I also don't like the idea of a real life person being off limits because they're problematic.

Oooooh, gauntlet has been thrown.

I have never seen Kawaii be anything other than thoughtful.

I never really saw the sketch as saying anyone was in the wrong…Pat was being Pat and the other characters were trying to be sensitive. I just saw it as making painfully drawn out fun of an awkward situation.

He was based on a real person. What do you do when real life is offensive?

I mean, Pat's dweeby and weird, i guess. It's definitely not a flattering portrayal and i guess you could argue that he/she is meant to be laughed at for that, but i guess i always saw that as separate from his/her androgyny.

Oh man, fuck you.

I got called Pat a lot too as a tomboy kid, but i still think this criticism is stupid.

Fuck this guy woman.

Ok? It's the "pretty good" part that flummoxes me. I mean are people just listening to it and watching it with the intention of inflating the streaming numbers? I was assuming it was an organic thing.

Yes, let's turn this silly, enjoyable anecdote into a battle of which gender is more intelligent. Bravo, you stupid fuck.

I forgot he wrote it. Not sure what the correct terminology would be in that case or when someone like Bowie or Prince writes a song specifically intended for someone else to perform and then performs it as well.
