I like that Disney is running a series of remakes handed off to mumblecore icons (including the forthcoming Alex Ross Perry-penned Winnie the Pooh and Lowery's take on Peter Pan) parallel to their more high-profile, successful remakes.

Also, for all the comparisons I've seen with this and the Psycho remake, at least Psycho is interesting as a case study of its makers (I also think it's extremely good, but that's besides the point). This just looks like indifferent check-cashing.
