The host doesn't matter as long as the delivery is there. They are not ad libbing, so it is just reading lines. The host also would have to be smaller than the show. Couldn't be a famous as that would ruin the experience of it.

That comment would only be fair if Gene didn't change to be more of a dick as story requires. All characters are selfish, but Gene is selfish and stupid in a Jerkass Homer way when it is too hard to write a decent plot around him.

I wouldn't mind so much if they were consistently stupid, but the Flanderization of these two is annoying. This episode was really bad in that regard. Everyone became retards because the story required it.
