Ah so it's the comics version that's been watered down. I wasn't sure which version you were referring to.

In what way?

That would be Alien: Salvation, which was written by Dave Gibbons. It was released as a standalone hardcover a few months back. I would highly recommend it.

It is, although I have seen the first three episodes of the TV series on YouTube.

Steven Universe Vol 1- I was a little underwhelmed by this. The stories inside were amusing but they weren't as sweet or a funny as the episodes of the show, although they did have their moments. I wasn't crazy about the art either. I do like when artists take a show's specific look and filter it through their own

It definitely had its moments but it also was a bit of a slow burn, especially in the second trade paper back. Some issues were more exciting than others like when she teamed up with X-23. You're bang on about the art being the strongest part of it. Not only did it look good but Noto excels with action sequences.
What

It really is. And the best part (as someone who doesn't read it in trades) is that the bonkers mentality makes for a very satisfying issue. Each one is so dense that you really feel like you are getting a lot of bang for your buck.

I'm picking up only two books but I'm excited for both; The Goddamned #3 and Transformers vs G.I.JOE #11. I love going to the comic book shop to pick up these series, its like Christmas all over again.

While I prefer Wonder Woman/Batman over Wonder Woman/Superman, I kind of dislike the idea of having to pair Diana up with another superhero. I prefer that if Wonder Woman has to he paired up with someone it's someone from her own supporting cast. Also at this point I think DC should embrace the lesbian subtext of

That explains it. I definitely prefer the way Janson inks anything.

It featured the second Cheetah if I remember correctly.

Yeah I've seen samples from the style guide online. It was cool, very retro in a good way.

Given that he did the DC style guide back in 1982 I don't find that surprising. His art here is rather different then the art he did back then for the style guide, and its hard to say if it's because of his style evolving or as I mentioned the way it was inked by Janson. It looks more… I want to say aggressive, with a

That was another thing that made the story so enjoyable wasn't it? Gail Simone makes good use of all the characters in the story, both in terms of giving them significant moments, giving each character a distinct voice and making notable uses of their powers and abilities.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to read Mare Internum.

You're welcome!
I cannot praise Tom Scioli's works in general enough. He is very experimental when it comes to doing comic book work and he is able to tell his story in very interesting way. His style and writing is heavily influenced by Jack Kirby but filtered through the evolution of the medium over the years. It's

JLA: The Hypothetical Woman- This was an interesting read. it's basically the Justice League taking on real world politics, albeit with a DCU twist. The story itself was very engaging and had a lot of clever twists and turns. The biggest highlight was the artwork courtesy of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, which is filled

I haven't read it since it started updating again but The Meek is a great webcomic with some wonderful artwork. I would also recommend Tom Scioli's Satan's Solider for the same reasons, although given its dark sense of humour it may not be for everyone. Simply put it is the most idiosyncratic take on the concept of

I think it has potential. At the very least it seems like it could address issues people have had with the Nu52. The return to the concept of legacy certainly sounds promising.

Thanks for that. Yeah I forgot about digital sales, that would be an important factor to consider.
I guess my question is whether or not it varies among companies that a book has to sell a certain amount of units to be successful. You mentioned up thread that a book at the big two has to sell a large number of units to
