The character design of Gru also bears a lot of resemblance to the Tim Burton version of the Penguin. I also recall a character from Despicable Me that bore an uncanny resemblance to the Pointy Haired Boss from Dilbert.
No unfortunately. It's seems likely that the tweets were deleted, assuming that part of the story was true.
Nick Hanover wrote a series of tweets about this that are definitely worth reading. https://twitter.com/Nick_Ha…
My second pick after Through the Woods would be Aliens: Salvation.
That's a really good pick. I would love to see a discussion about Carroll's work in that book.
Maybe. I have only read Tim Sale in trades so I don't know what he is like on a monthly schedule in terms of meeting deadlines. I do know that Finch has been criticized for not meeting deadlines in the past. I also just remembered Finch signed an exclusive with DC comics a couple of years back so that is probably why…
As I mentioned in my post Aliens: Salvation is definitely one of the good ones mostly for Mignola.
Does Robocop vs. Terminator count? Because if it does holy shit you guys Frank Miller's and Walter Simonson's Robocop vs. Terminator is such a blast to read. And on that note Simonsson's adaptation of Alien with Archie Goodwin is pretty good too and I really liked Aliens: Salvation by Dave Gibbons and Mike Mignola.
Ano…
It certainly is. He is one of my favourite artists and consider his style to be and influence of my own.
Incidentally I have no idea why Sale is hired to do only a variant cover while David Finch continually gets these high profile gigs at DC.
Marshal Law. It's a bold, aggressive, punk rock satire against superheroes and it still creates a compelling story. If there was ever a comic book that needed a movie adaptation now more than ever, Marshal Law is the one.
The Goddamned
ODY-C
She-Wolf
Head Lopper.
Once Tom Scioli's Transformers vs GI.JOE is done the only ongoing series that I'll be picking up that isn't from Image is Legend of Wonder Woman.
I actually have both of those Tomasso comics on my pull list. Both will be the first time I've read anything he's done. I'm also totally jealous you got to pick those up so early. What are your thoughts on Dark Corridor and She Wolf?
Brad Bird.
Yeah Hank Pym was a lot of fun, which is not something I think you can often say about the character. I think what helped was that because it was a cartoon intended for children it had tone back on a lot of the more off putting elements of the character (such as Pym's reputation as a wife beater) and approach the…
Agreed it was very enjoyable and as someone who wasn't familiar with the Marvel Universe outside of the movies, it was really cool to see a show that focused on different characters from that universe. I really loved the characterization between Ant-Man and the Wasp.
It also had a very distinctive look to it and was…
Thanks for sharing that, it really sums up what is so frustrating not only about the Watchmen situation but also the way so many people are apathetic about it.
Yikes… Sorry I asked.
So now Bay is doing damage control on his website.
