What genre does King Krule fit into? I think of him as hip hop, which would be more evidence of the new "Golden Age" you mention.

Man, I hope they don't put them up at one am like they did these articles! I want to be there when this discussion starts!
YES!! I said that in the other article—that Yamantanka//ST album is epic and amazing. I'm really surprised it didn't show up on anyone's ballot.
Seriously, I still think about that review and just shudder.
@Antoniooo:disqus I'm pretty sure I remember agreeing with your choices last year, too—but these are all excellent.
Screw Jamestown, tell me about Roanoke!
Alas, he'll never be hotter than he was as Jess. Nostalgia is a powerful aphrodisiac.
How there was a "The AV Club was most wrong about" in TV but not in music is baffling. That Neko Case review still haunts me.
Ah! How have I missed the readers' choice stuff! Thank you!
#1 Podcast Guest of the Year? I agree that Kumail's a strong contender (his DLM appearances alone!). PFT obviously is a nominee. But my pick might be Jason Mantzoukas, who never does anything but improve any podcast he's on.
Wait, I'm confused. Are you talking to me, Fryvault? Or about your Fryvault?
I feel like the last few months haven't been as good, but the first half of 2013 was stacked with stellar moments. The PFT/Weird Al episode, the Neko Case episode, and the return of Fourvel round out my top 5.
Yep. Came straight to the comments to say that HDTGM is my #1 by a lot (followed by the Bugle). I think CBB has slipped a bit this year, especially in the last few months, but June, Paul and Jason continue to knock it out of the park every week. I think I've listed to the Joyful Noise one with Fred Stoller four times.
Agreed. Adored it! I quoted the same thing below.
Also:
For some reason my favorite thing was the quiet, dimly lit street where RBG lives. So unassuming, so normal—but just made entirely of candy.
Root Beer Guy is perfect. I hope we never see him again.
I dunno, I liked all the ingredients, but I didn't like the show at all. It just never seemed to actually work—there was no weight behind the characters.
I did!! And I liked it! But between him and Darren Boyd, it pretty much could have just been the phone book interpreted through dance and I would have liked it.
I mean, yeah. Plus, they're both just good comedies.
