The only WRX trim with 17s is listed as 3272 lbs. The BRZ with PP is listed as 2793 lbs. Even if you went with the heaviest WRX listing, it would only be ~3340. It is a significant difference in weight, but it is nowhere near 800 lbs.

I have yet to meet anyone “serious about drivers cars” that considers the BRZ in the hunt for a purchase. It is stuck at a strange point between power and weight. It needs more of one or less of the other, respectively.
