You make a good point about the plastics.

Yeah, the Nissan 300zx or Mitsubishi 3000gt twin turbo variants are things I still have nightmares about.
I, for one, disagree for one reason alone - 90's plastic parts and their eventual degradation. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to weedle one of these little connectors or tabs out only to have it crush, break, or snap.
Yyyyyyup.
I didn’t realize they made those. I fucking want to destroy whoever made those adhesive ones whenever I have to sand a quarter panel.
F-16s are closer to $5oMM today, but the real problem is that they cost almost $30K/hour to operate, which is much, MUCH higher than the $2-3K/hour rate for the new proposed solutions.
Honest question: isn’t the F-16 pretty suitable? It’s about $20mm each and maybe a bit more maintenance, but we already have years and years of flight/fight experience and the associated tools, SOPs, etc.
(Particulary IndyCar since about 100 people show up to the TMS IndyCar race every year...)
Many tens of thousands of Honda VFR, ST , and Hawk owners would politely disagree...
What are you talking about? Craigslist is full of cars with V4s. Do some research dude.
2 car batteries + 2 sets of jumper cables + 1/16" electrode = instant welder!
Well, there’s that tricky bit at the far end of the mall parking lot. That’s pretty gnarly.
Because nobody spending $85k on a new luxury SUV is taking it further off-road than a gravel country club parking lot.
There, there now, David. You’ll be okay.
A Jeep’s a Jeep..

CIS is a nightmare but it was worth learning at the time. As teenagers, my friends and I collected every bit of Audi literature we could get our hands on. Manuals, bulletins, and Audi self study guides for technicians. We learned how to service these cars to keep them going. Countless hours were spent scouring eBay,…
this comment deeply terrifies me
Adjusting the control frequency of differential pressure regulators is not for the faint of heart. The struggle for lambda was real.
Access. If you flat on a trail, a rock or outcropping or just the depth of the wheel ruts can make it very difficult to get the spare out from underneath.
