He’s overly optimistic, and that’s nothing to say about his personal views, but the reality is it will be worth the effort even if takes another 10 years to be fully commercially viable.

Next vehicle is a 3 row SUV, due in 2023. Will also be a luxury car, with a luxury car price, so that may or may not be what you’re looking for.

Of course that’s true, but only for so long. They resist all change and eventually give in until the next disruptive change comes and they focus all their hate there. Eventually they will be used to seeing EVs that offer superior cost and performance compared to ICE vehicles, and they will change... slowly.

I’d really like to see the data you have access to, that we might not, showing why it’s such an issue for humans to monitor the autonomous driving systems in these states. We never seem to get that, it’s always assumed. Yet Tesla, GM, Ford, and plenty other OEMs have these systems live in the real world today and

Our 2016 CX-5 GT has been a fantastic family car. The only issues we had were with the DRLs burning out, but both headlights were replaced under warranty. Otherwise in 65k miles I’ve just had to replace tires, brake pads (just did rear pads and rotors) and regular maintenance.

Tesla’s mission practically demands they make a pickup truck that sells well. Pickups today have poor gas mileage and sell in huge numbers. Tesla’s goal is to displace all those ICE truck sales with BEV sales.

For now, if they can build it at scale, the cybertruck will exert huge pressure on the OEMs to match the

We’re in a rare situation where these companies have to take on enormous expenses to R&D these new vehicles because the whole industry is going through a once-in-a-century transformation. I assume Ford, Rivian, and other EV manufacturers will continue to take deposits until practically all new cars are EVs. It helps

Honda shared a lot of great info on what truck buyers actually need. A Ridgeline is adequate for a large portion of them. But truck buyers don’t buy based on what they need, they buy based on specs that are irrelevant to them.

There it is folks, scap the whole vehicle. We can stop all Teslas and the Mustang Mach E, too. Anything with phone as key. No one could possibly figure out ways around this.

If Tesla actually makes the CyberTruck, and it ends up looking like the prototype, it will be a commercial failure. A few people will buy them, but most people won’t because they can’t relate to it. It simply doesn’t fit into their idea of what “truck” should be.

Always? You mean we haven’t exhausted bad ideas on healthcare yet?!

I think we all agree with you that dealerships are inefficient and prop up other businesses that also provide little to no value to consumers.

VW would say that solution is Electrify America. Unfortunately they have a poor experience and haven’t had the opportunity to build in many prime spots like Tesla did. I want both to succeed, but it’s going to be a long, painful process for everyone else.

Please share the data you have that conflicts both Tesla and the US federal government. It’s plausible they are misleading, but I want to understand what data you have to support this

I fully understand the frustration some feel because they think only tesla is beta testing self driving around them (they aren’t the only ones, and haven’t been for many years now). But after watching FSD (terrible name, of course) evolve I strongly believe it’s impossible to achieve anywhere near level 3+ self

Other people have already decided you can’t drive a vehicle with leaded fuel, or the wrong way down a street, or on racing slicks, or without headlights on when you’re in a construction zone, and on and on.

Unless you’re an anarchist, I assume you just mean you don’t want any laws you disagree with. This isn’t about

This is why Honda isn’t selling a million Ridgelines per year, even though it’s the perfect capability for the vast majority of truck buyers. They know that their vehicle does more than truck buyers ever use their trucks for, but it doesn’t carry the same excess and image as traditional pickup trucks.

A 5% reduction in ICE vehicle fuel consumption would be a huge benefit to the environment.

For me it’s ease of use. If I had hours a day to game, I’d be right back on my PC like I always was before kids. But now, the xbox with game pass ultimate is by far the easiest and best value for gaming. It’s just too convenient to pass up - from the near instant startup to how small it is in my TV stand.

No offense to OP, but why is it every time I check jalopnik the top story is an article about shit old jeeps?
