I read eat pray love when I was in college and maybe some found it trite or whatever, I don’t know, but it was a comforting book to read mid-quarter life crisis. People love to throw hate at anything that gains quick popularity (particularly when that popularity is among women) as if it makes them more interesting…
I was walking to work one morning and saw a woman strugling to hold open her workplace door while trying to get her bike in. Being a cyclist and the norm is to always be helpful to your fellow cyclist, be it loaning them a pump or giving them your spare tire, I instinctively reached over to hold the door for her. She…
When I was younger and cruising around the lake one night in the rain, I saw a stalled car. As I passed it the man was waving me down. I slowed down and backed up to help but then I got scared that he might not really be broken down and that he was waiting there to attack a young girl. So I put my car back in drive…
I know. My point was more that we’re afraid of men, not just cops.
I had an interesting thought yesterday and this article reminded me of it.
I think women do very similar mental calculus in these situations, too, though maybe not out of fear of the cops, but certainly for fear of their own safety.
Luca gave me Jaden Smith vibes.
She’s someone with one of the biggest platforms in the world and has never used it to speak against the president or any of his policies. Fuck that white privileged bitch and the shitty music she makes.
There was a time post Lupita N’Yongo’s Oscar win, we’re talking weeks here, that blind gossip items were talking on and on about how she was a flash in the pan, a one hit wonder, difficult, etc. Then when The Force Awakens happened there were more blind items about how she couldn’t act, the green screen was killing…
Chip and Joanna really catering to their audience by clarifying with “IF you’re still confused.” I suppose their viewership has only a slightly higher IQ than Trump.
Quinta Brunson—better known as Quinta B.—stole our hearts years ago as a video content creator for BuzzFeed Motion…
So I will just go with max crassness here, but did she buy her own ring?Or was this a sponsored thing? Because Guy From The Leftovers Who Isn’t Jen Aniston’s Husband can’t have that kind of money can he?
I agree with the people who posted that Dave is funniest when he talks about his own experiences and what *he* knows. By focusing on Trans and women’s issues he walks into territory he is ignorant in. We all have blind spots. Dave made the mistake of not staying in the lanes he drives best in. Bad call.
90 percent is a weird way to judge that, but otherwise I agree. The only way punching-down can work is if the target of the joke thinks it’s funny. Otherwise you’re just piling shit onto someone who’s already a victim, and that just makes you and whoever else laughs at the “joke” a shitty person.
And if you’re going to punch down, JUST MAKE IT FUNNY.
It’s a classic case of “punching down” humor and no one but outright assholes like that shit.
The biggest problem with these jokes and jokes like them...is that they aren’t funny.
Really though? Louie and the rest of his sexual predator brethren have been personally getting away with this shit for years. Not to mention that Louie let his fans harass the women he assaulted into silence. They lost their reputations, careers, income and peace of mind. What has Louis lost. His name off a couple…
This grown-ass woman.
