Here’s a partially dressed (transverse layout) VQ35 being weighed (not my picture):

I’ve compared dressed and bare long blocks and the vq is at least 50 lbs lighter in both configurations

You are mistaken. A quick Google search will confirm my statement

Each configuration has its own pros and cons. Can’t go wrong with most any engine build. Only limitation is parts availability, but even that can be overcome with the right vendor on your side.

An SR20 weighs under 350lbs with the turbo and plumbing accounted for. An LS1 weighs roughly 450lbs fully dressed.

I dig the C3. Even enjoy the aero years from ‘78 to ‘82

Fair enough

Per my original comment:

Why bother buying something with OEM parts when an equivalent OEM vehicle already exists. This seller wants SRT8 Magnum money for an RT Magnum with lots of miles on the chassis and an 6.1l swap.

Perfect example of paying more for a wagon when you can have a lower mile actual SRT8 charger or 300.

Used to be into the whole wagon scene and moved on because of the additional cost for something that really isn’t necessary.

I’m afraid you’ll never understand!

Completely serious. Unfounded wagon affection is not shared and unfounded

I agree mostly with what you’re saying, but with one exception:

Will we get the sedan version in the US? That would be cool with me since that’s the better version anyway

The Rolls Royce Phantom (sedan, Coupe, and drophead) used the OHV L series V8 through 2016 apparently.

Didn’t realize the L series was still alive and kicking.

True. I excluded the ZL1 the first time around but included it the second time. It was an extremely limited production engine that was essentially a racing engine.

That specific item exists in a very small and isolated segment of the market.

You could easily do that. The C5Z does have a couple of disadvantages as a starting platform. The FRC shape is not as aerodynamic as the coupe body. The gear spacing between 3rd and 4th in the C5Z is not as well spaced as that in the coupe transmission.
