I definitely laughed harder at “tall vanilla mach-e auto” than I had any right to :)

I feel like the sea of buttons in the interior is a bit harsh to look at as far as reasons that would make it less enjoyable, but otherwise I agree with your assessment.
PROMISE no judgment? Then in that case, I think calling the Mach-E a Mustang was brilliant.
What’s your point, though? If it’s that Tacomas have gotten expensive, then sure, but comparing it to a Wrangler is irrelevant.
The 2003-2010 logo doubling as an upside down duck only adds to the charm.
If by “kid” we mean before teenaged years, then the GM Dustbuster vans, especially the refreshed Pontiac Trans Sport (the split grille and fancy arrowhead logo were the difference makers). I just thought it looked so cool and sleek:
I feel like it has to be the Gen. 1 Aveo, especially in sedan form. I get it - cheap, small cars are an easy target. They’re budget-minded, so you’d expect them to be underpowered with limited design appeal.
Sir, this is Jalopnik. I was readying up my typing fingers to berate you for posting a photo of the Impala, and was even going to rip you apart for the fact “IMPALA” is literally written on the car!
That’s a feature and not a bug, though, isn’t it?
They are back now with the Battlebots Face-off series, which sort of splits the difference between Destruct-a-Thon and the main Battlebots series (which has yet to be renewed, but not full-on cancelled).
In addition to also wanting proof of these awful ideas, the other question I keep asking is “will it be a good car?” Not car masquerading as a rocket-powered hovercraft that impresses simple-minded people. Car.
And to answer your question regarding concept cars that became a reality:
It sounds like you’re trying to argue that the Cybertruck, if nothing else, is unique and a crazy idea. And that by extension, rather than focusing on the failed promises brought upon by Elon, we should focus on the potential Tesla has to create cars with crazy ideas.
I bet if people didn’t love hating Musk, the Cybertruck would be the coolest thing on the road
Oh man, I wish I had a chance to try an AI Drive-Thru. I have so many questions for it!
For the interior, maybe it won’t be so bad if all the lit-up parts are in turned off (or dimmer and in a neutral color), but the way it’s presented in all of those pictures is just tacky as hell.
I don’t get the hate for this car
Thank you for this! Even with their VC decision-making rearing its ugly head at times, Jalopnik still provides plenty of entertainment. If anything went downhill at Jalopnik, it’s the constant whinging from the commentariat, so I appreciate your refreshing response.
Elon running multiple companies is like that scene from The Simpsons where Bart impresses onlookers by playing three games of chess at once, only to get checkmated three times in a row:
This feels appropriate
