And blackjack. In fact, forget the bathing.

I’ll submit that the end of the second episode of Heroes (which I don’t want to spoil, but it involves Hiro) was an all-time great twist. It’s too bad the show couldn’t live up to that promise.

I don’t think Disney’s looking for an apology, Gina.

For my part I just want to be a supportive ally and do what (little) I can do to dismantle our racist systems. I know that as an affluent white dude I’m never going to be all that fired up about the topic, but I want to at the very least avoid making things worse.

I agree there. I’m just trying to be aware (as a white person) that saying “hey I think this white person should weigh in” isn’t necessarily going to be well-received. Nonetheless, it’s probably a reasonable baseline for situations like this that someone in Holland’s position should feel able to make a (short)

Yes, we all know you’re smarter than the rest of us. Carry on.

I think we’re on the same page. Aside from ditching his acting career to become a full-time activist, the most Holland can plausibly do is speak out about the topic when circumstances arise, or donate time and money to antiracist causes. But I don’t think people are dummies for wanting him to speak out.

Help! Ben Franklin’s about to escape!

Pipe down, Igor.

Wait a minute... THIS is the Bad Place!

It’s a pretty common belief that failing to vocally oppose oppression is either tacit support of it, or at least a form of cowardice. Not to put too fine a point on it, but “with great power comes great responsibility” isn’t just a fun Spider-Man meme, it’s actually true, and Holland has at least some level of (soft,

I think the point is that when first reading the subhead, one might parse the phrase “abuse from Tom Holland” and momentarily think that Holland himself was perpetrating the abuse, and as such experience a moment of alarm/chagrin at this assertion, then upon fully comprehending the sentence another moment later,

Mostly what I’m thinking of is when an incident like this occurs, and someone (usually a white person) says “what does [white person tangentially related to the situation] have to say about this?” and (some, not all) people of color respond with “who gives a shit what they have to say?” Obviously a white person in

I dunno, the frog that lives in his mouth is probably pretty traumatized by now.

People definitely should speak out against racism in general, but it isn’t necessarily always the right time/move for a white guy to weigh in about racism when the focus is on the words of Black folks. In other words, “we really need to hear what a white guy thinks about this” is exactly the kind of thing that a lot

The subhead contains the phrase “abuse from Tom Holland,” which at first glance can make it sound like he had something to do with the abuse. Reading the subhead in full dispels that notion, of course.

The only correct response to this “feud” is “spending even one second thinking about this irrelevant bullshit is a colossal waste of time.” But I realize why Cena wouldn’t say that, even though he’s definitely thinking it.

That sounds good, I’ll have that.

“You’re not incorrect, Walton, you’re just a dickhead!”
